Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Short term leave question

Hi, I've commented before.

I'm a full time mba student who is also working at MetLife. My mba has certain requirements like experiential learning and also internship requirement.

Is it possible to keep my job while taking off my summer break (June July August) so I can do my experiential learning which is going to be a leadership retreat in Norway. And then I've been applying to mba internships and just heard back from Amazon for a summer mba intern program.

I want to restart MetLife in September after I finish all my summer requirements.

Is this possible ? Sabbatical? Leave of absence ?

They could save on paying you for several months, you may leave, and they could terminate your employment? What is the downside for Met?

Honestly, why are you asking this question on a board dedicated to discussing layoffs? Maybe a class in being more situationally aware or exercising sound judgement is in order.

I'm confused why you wouldn't be meeting your internship (i.e. work) requirement through your MetLife work. Is this a daytime MBA program or executive MBA program?

The first person I would talk to is your manager. I'm assuming they know you're enrolled in this MBA program. You're going to need their support to get any sort of leave approved so might as well get them on your side to start. Then it will be a conversation with HR to see what your options are. What kinds of leave options will be available to you, if any, depends on which country you work in.

Talk to HR. This isn’t the right forum to get advice on this.

That's just an example, I applied for a bunch of mba internships. Tik tok, Amazon, etc

I'm a full time worker at MetLife also. So are there any options?

For my experiential learning, I went swimming with the Dolphins!

So, you want to go to Amazon for the summer, then come back?
