Just heard about another layoff, this time marketing took a hit.
F5 is laying off employees working for the company’s marketing-related content production team, GeekWire has learned.
The Seattle-based company confirmed the cuts, and said they impacted less than 0.25% of its workforce. F5 has about 6,500 employees worldwide.
F5 is shifting marketing resources and will rely more heavily on agencies for creative and content needs.
FLD fu---d up when he put a person with zero product experience in charge of development. Although I guess it's possible that all he wanted was a pedigreed stooge.
My dad was a fine custom wood craftsman. He understood that to be that he had to have experience and knowledge in the use of many different tools. Kara knows only how to use one tool that being a kn--e to remove people from F5
F5 Future (about employees , not about board )

Undoubtedly, I do not feel safe anymore.
Who will be impacted next ? (ngnix, brm, big ip .....)
BIG-IP development
what to expect from Kara?
Hopefully the board sees her for what she is/isn't and makes a change.
Does anyone know about severance offered ?
"F5 makes it ridiculously hard to be an employee."
At this point, it looks like it's the planned action. The more cumbersome working conditions they create, the more employees jump the ship. F5 won't need to pay severance packages, and EVPs would happily leave in a bubble thinking a magical "AI" will radiculously easy take care of everything...
I find it amusing that Kara "the hatchet" touts ridiculously easy, when F5 makes it ridiculously hard to be an employee. Cut bonuses for the minions, forced return to office policies, executives leaving, and layoffs. I was one of the casualties and in the meeting when we were informed, she was so cold and uncaring. F5 should really rethink it's upper management strategies.
Yet another reminder email about the "strategy" that seems to be not working at all. A "significant drop in bookings" of the company's flagship product directly results from terrible management decisions, a strategy that is not working. Are those responsible for setting up the strategy going to be held accountable? Or, again, will engineers be blamed and laid off?
"Kara informed us in an all-hands meeting that our users were not happy with the quality of our newer products."
If this is about hardware in any way, she can only blame herself for getting rid of the VP in Spokane.
"K. informed us in an all-hands meeting that our users were not happy with the quality of our newer products. "
What product? Considering F5XC problems just days before the major conference, I'd suspect this product... Who sets the strategy? Where are product managers? Are engineers magicians? If so, let ELT employ overhyped AI to deliver software and hardware and provide customer support!
30 minutes before the layoff notifications, Kara informed us in an all-hands meeting that our users were not happy with the quality of our newer products. This was followed up by laying off senior staff with tribal knowledge and experience that can never be replaced. The jobs for these employees were all sent to India.
"Why these many layoffs?"
Many projects are overstaffed, especially projects that do not create ANY value for customers.
Cost-cutting by replacing US and European employees with cheap labour in India.
"Will there be more layoffs next year in the US? I see all teams are hiring in India."
Yes, it will be. Moving projects to India is a broader trend in the industry. Many big corporations start cost-cutting by shifting projects, especially services, to India. F5 is no exception.
"Who will be impacted next? (ngnix, brm, big ip .....)"
Probably all divisions, especially those that push "invented" products and features on customers.
"What to expect from Kara?"
More cost cutting, more "ridiculously easy" BS, more excuses, more re-org next year as revenue declines and customers turn to competitive products.
"Does anyone know about the severance offered?"
This is a question mark. It will probably be an absolute minimum required by local laws. It is better to start looking for a new gig in smaller, local companies. Or better, create your own small business.
