Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

This is not good

If this merger actually happens, layoffs will be absolutely brutal. I'll be praying for this whole thing to fizzle out.

The Cigna merger with Aetna was blocked by the DOJ. A merger between Aetna and Humana was blocked by the DOJ? There is no way a Cigna merger with Humana will be allowed either. Will face the same exact anti-competitive scrutiny the other two did. If those two couldn't sell those mergers as benefiting consumers, how could this one?

This is why Cigna will divest it’s Medicare business and Humana will divest their pharmacy program in order for the Merger to go through. No overlap. No antitrust.

This sale can only take place after government regulators review. There are big doubts as to whether it could pass regulatory scrutiny.

This sale would take between 2 & 3 years to finalize.

Based on what I've read in the threads on here, more than likely Cigna will either sell off their Medicare business or do layoffs or a combination, and then go through with the acquisition of Humana. This way, they'll be less likely to get rejected by the government on the grounds that they're monopolizing the market.
