Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I just got out of the NatGen town hall and am seriously wondering what is up with Peter Rendall

And how does he have a seat at the top? Seriously. Does anyone have the tea? This man is the PRESIDENT of a large corporation but has zero charisma or noticeable leadership qualities. He’s always extremely stiff and uncomfortable during town halls and large meetings and doesn’t look like he knows (or believes in) the words coming out of his mouth and looking nervous that someone is going to call him out on it.

It’s like he accidentally fell into the role of President and nobody asked questions. I’m so confused.

wow look what i stumbled upon.
I worked for this guy during gmac then early nat gen days. The guys is a stiff and uncomfortable in his skin. But the karfunkel family absolutely loved him way back. He was pushed forward by them. He use to just pull numbers out of his a-s which meant nothing cause no one went back to look at any projections. But he would present them with confidence and Karfunkels loved this. I got laid off by this pr--k tho there was no feedback on negative feedback whatsoever. I even was making nice bonuses. Being laid off with young kids really stung. I wish nothing but worse for him in future. There is always bad karma for those who lay people off.

Long tenured Band G here. The number of golfers who were prompted solely for that reason are numerous. No talent but could kiss a-s on the golf course to get promoted. Embarrassing.

I noticed the same thing. He seemed terrified and at a loss for words.

Peter’s a decent golfer and the officers love that. That’s the reason he is president, nothing else.

Correct. Most of us grunts don’t like to be managed…the NatGen way that is. Where leaders have titles for clout and their focus is only on outcomes, their contributions, level of authority, and respect. Not people-oriented where leaders lead with a spirit of servitude and inclusivity to their direct reports first. Not placing business goals and results ahead of team morale, culture, and mental wellbeing. As a whole, no corporation is perfect with this newer style of leadership ideology but Allstate adopted it years ago and provides the necessary resources, training, and support to embrace it across every business unit. But when presented to NatGen leaders a couple years ago, they REFUSED to embrace it. Why? Answer: It would disrupt the self-serving status quo that’s suited those at the top for so long.

Allstate is concerned how leaders are perceived?? If that was the case, 90 percent wouldn't have jobs.

Nobody cares how leaders are perceived because most of you grunts don't like to be managed and therefore hate them just based on principal

“I’m certain that he is concerned about your opinion of him as well as the other trash that troll this site.”

Because in what world would anyone want to live in where leaders shouldn’t be concerned about how their leadership is perceived and received? He absolutely should be concerned because National General is an Allstate company now. And Allstate has strived to be a people-focused organization that considers how said people feel about their leaders. If a leader can’t adapt or be coached then they’re out….ESPECIALLY if they’re not performing and looking at this year’s profitability, performance isn’t up to par.

You’ve got a half-right read on him, from my experience. He doesn’t have the “CEO” charm that a lot of great leaders have but don’t mistake that for being a bad leader. He’s actually a very good leader, especially in smaller groups where he can be more of himself rather than the corporate suit Allstate wants him to be. He’s a T-shirt and ball cap kind of guy which I actually appreciate.

The person saying NatGen leadership is trash is obviously wrong. Plenty of strong leaders with creative ideas. Not all great but plenty of good leaders.

There is literally no leadership in any part of Nat Gen. It is run like trash. The policies are so different from Allstate.

Likely being force fed lies and deceit to pu-e onto the employees from the ivory tower and he is uncomfortable with this. Probably conflicting with whatever integrity he has left.
