Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Things to keep in mind when looking for a job

I was laid off. Got 2 offers within 2 months. NONE of them were due to Dell experience.

absolutely no one in the industry thinks Dell mgmt is good. So anyone who brings dell mgmt's politics , they arent chosen for the new jobs.

The other companies know what is happening at Dell_business level because they also speak to our customers.

Bumping this so more people know what to expect and what to rely on when looking for a job. Taken from @1luy+1pNhd760.

College interns eager to work for Dell and displace those who will have forgotten more about servers, storage, cloud than they will ever know. It's all pushing customer to partners and E-Dell because of this they will continue to lose share in the datacenter

I've had same experience - almost every interview I have had since I left has had a super negative opinion about Dell. EMC was pretty well respected. Any upcoming layoffs at Dell might be light because so many people have quit - which is actually part of the plan. They want people to quit and replace them with Inside Sales/college hire programs. You will not see talented people from outside being hired, doesn't matter how good they are, they cost too much. Dell thinks their products sell themselves. Everyone knows servers and laptops are all the same. The storage market is going to be a dogfight, Dell is heavily investing in Flex, the HCI market is now full of other good products. Dell will eventually lose share in the other storage spaces to VAST and Pure - it is already happening. Bottom line, Dell is an absolute shithole, lousy place to work.

They did not see the Dell technology advancement level is compatible with what other companies already accomplished.

Dell is not really Tech company, Dell is a Logistics company where the most important inovations spearheaded by Michael Dell are in the Supply Chain management and logistics. Dell Supply Chain is subject to study in many of the books of Inventory and Supply Chain management. The Tech which Dell maintains is predominantly legacy tech which has stopped evolving long time ago. EMC is such example - it is a long time dead technology which is being iterated without much changes.. MD is of course aware of this and he does not mind it.

Had similar experience. They weren’t interested in my Dell experience. They did not see the Dell technology advancement level is compatible with what other companies already accomplished. Dell is trying to figure things out just now. Too late for the train! Basically, Dell is selling dinosaurs solutions and mindset. Customers buy it because it is cheap not for the quality.
