Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

When you are laid off, what will you do?

Take time off? Apply other places immediately?

What is the difference between a Sprinter and a pile of dog Sh!t? One is repulsive, smells bad, and is totally useless. The other is a pile of dog sh!t.

I would take a couple weeks off to decompress and enjoy it. The. Work on upskilling and finding a new job. I have been trying to do the later for a while but this job is become so bad it is tough to want to do anything in my free time. With the amount I would get on severance I could easily float myself 8-9 months but would aim to get something at around the 3 month mark.

Only reason I stayed is because of the severance package. Back in 2020 I could see the direction T-Mobile was headed. I made the decision then that T-Mobile was no longer the company for me, but with 20+ years I was making good money, had a ton of stock and my severance package was nice. I decided to start doing the bare minimum. It worked better than I thought it would. By mid-2021, I was working maybe 15 hours per week. Started a couple side gigs that almost doubled my salary. This continued until August 4th when Freier let it slip in one of his meetings that massive layoffs were coming. I got off that call and took a nap. I basically did nothing work related the rest of the month until we were notified. I took 90 days of garden leave instead of 60 since I got started a month early. Continued my side gigs, went to a lot of college football and NFL games, did several projects around the house, got my Six Sigma black belt certification and now plan to take most of December off from everything and just enjoy family. FU T-Mobile.

I'm doing some travel but more importantly taking some time off to get my mental and physical health right. Since August I've dropped a little over 40 pounds.

Considering how long I waited for my package? I am doing whatever I want to do haha.

Travel (nerd museum list), cooking classes, I even hosted Thanksgiving (20 people)! Saw Beyonce (traveled, thanks TMO), Mariah Carey (this week). I have started and finished several books that were piling up. Gym membership, 15 pounds lighter since June. Eating better, sleeping MUCH better. Awake with no alarm...my goodness. I'll stop.

Apply to other places? Rotfl

I'm enjoying real time off, for the first time since I began working over 40 years ago.
