omg, so many quotes. in case you haven't noticed by now, internal linking within threads works - you can refer to someone's post just by copying his postID (like this: @1iti+1pNDg1be , +1pNDg1be , @OP+1pNDg1be). saves a lot of time.

As Partners, customers, and skilled employees exit their relationship with VMW, what's left are the scaps of a legacy business that AVGO will optimize and sell as near-new tech.

Isn't this the used-car dealership model of business?

So to keep VMware as top of mind of the partners you need marketing (which is not only events, duh).

Not looking for new growth, just to milk the customers that can’t move off it. Welcome to the new world.

"We sell the digital equivalent of crack. How much marketing do you need to do that?"

A village, darlin'. Because everyone must remember that VMware is not the prime vendor of any partner out there as Dell, HPE or Microsoft are. So to keep VMware as top of mind of the partners you need marketing (which is not only events, duh).

I can say, as a former PMM myself, that the the partner marketing team was way above average – a fantastic group of professionals who did an outstanding job. The partners will terribly miss that team. The distributors will possibly take over the task, as it's happening right now with Symantec and Arrow. Let's see if they can keep up with the level of engagement and if VMware can still fill in VMware Explore without the PMMs working with the channel.

“At the end of the day you got to ask yourself why Broadcom is buying VMware and not the other way around? They know how to simplify and focus on results (coming from direct experience being part of both orgs)”

  • if it were not for Velo, VMw had no intrinsic desire to go in to the hardware business, not now, not ever. And how did that entreé work out? velo su-ks.

“I know it is hard to accept things as they are. The reality is that VMware hired great people but was never good at managing these resources right. This will change now. Vmware will become a really profitable org really soon. Partners can stay if they add value and Broadcom will make it worth for them to stay loyal.”

  • Agree, this is cuz vm can’t hire any real leaders from mgr/dir up to vice prez

"Oh make no mistake, Broadcom is all "senior" people, they don't hire grads. So they will do just fine and at the fracture of the cost."

I'm not talking about high school seniors, I'm talking about people who understand partner marketing and that sure isn't BC people.

Because MD su-kered HT and put BC hopelessly in debt.

Wow... now that's a problem! It's exactly the reason why many of us thought that this wasn't going to be a repeat performance of the playbook AVGO used on CA and Symantec.

Can't wait to see Hock Tan's next move. Turn on the popcorn maker, because this is sure to be a rollercoaster ride to the finish line. Woot!

Partners are getting pi---d as they get abandoned. I was in a partner marketing organization I was let go and my boss declined the offer. Many sales people left. There are no more senior people to help partners.

Hock Tan wanted to focus more on Partner-led sales, rather than employee-led, and now that's going to be an uphill battle for AVGO to repair the damage and loss of trust.

Also, as more employees vent about the termination chaos, this will be shared widely.
