Our group had engineers and technicians used to work in mental hospitals, house flipping, mechanics, massage therapy, truck drivers.

Jesus f*** I just had a "Program Manager" ask me to provide remote access to a system that consistently reproduces a pair of defects. A remote system he and his Devs were given access to three weeks ago consistently reproduces the defects and this has been pointed out daily!

Our customer is now complaining.

If I didn't have a family to care for I would get on the phone at night with this mother f and ask him are you f* stupid?!?

Problem is, that they usually get hired right out of school, have never worked anywhere else in the field and have no hands on engineering experience. This glaringly obvious...

If the managers get hiring slots they WILL fill them, even if the talent is terrible. Because bigger teams means better pay for managers.

A few teams have tried to stay small and smart but they suffer for it

I'm not even kidding when I say out of my team of 12, only 3 people made products and moved the business forward. The other 9 were absolute dead weight. Yet, they were always the ones getting the spot light for their power point presentation they stole online from some PHD. The data scientists are the biggest joke of them all. A competition to see how brown their nose could get. Intel managers favor yes people with no talent.

Hahaha ... stupid managers want to keep stupid engineers for themselves.

stupid people hire other stupid people to protect themselves

  • > there is no one to challenge them

this would have collapsed if companies actually competed with one another
the failing ones should go out of business
but big wall street players are manipulating the market

Engineers in title not in education… those are long gone to work for the competition: NVIDIA, APPLE, and yes… even AMD…

My coworkers one of them was chef before joining Intel, one of them was a commercial driver, one of them was ameature av producer, no lying. They're still here and their jobs are more secure than yours or mine.

Who hires them? Even more stupid hiring managers ? Given the choice I won’t socialize outside work with id--ts as it hampers social mobility.

Engineers in name only. Posers is more accurate. All that cr-p about fake it till you make it... never had it, never will.

All the good engineers were laid off or found better jobs. Intel's practice of out with the old/experienced/highly paid, and in with the new/inexperienced/lower cost engineers has caught up with them.
