I was paying $135 a month for Cigna A in premiums through payroll. After being let go, I received notice that my COBRA rate would be $1488 a month—for just myself. Is this the same for everyone? It seems like an error because I thought it would only be about $600 a month

That's crazy.
This is normal. My family of three was on CA marketplace insurance before I joined and we played $2700 for the equivalent coverage of Cigna plan C.
Just me, bcbs cobra is about $700/month.
Yes ours for the family Cobra plan is $2700.
