Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Help!

What do I do if I was cornered in a supply closet by my work colleague who inappropriately touched me? I went to my supervisor and to HR, gave my statements to both and still waiting to hear back on next steps. Do I need to engage my actually manager or perhaps just go all out and discuss this with my Senior Director. Since I’m getting the feeling this won’t be resolved and the offender won’t be held accountable

Do not post this kind of sh-t on a layoff site. Report it to the police. THIS IS A LAYOFF SITE.

Inappropriate is very subjective and can mean many things. Tell us more in details.

Do not trust HR, they are there to protect the company at all costs. They will lie, turn it around on you and try to get rid of you. Document everything , do everything in writing.

Step 1: File a Police report.
Step 2: inform Line Manager.
Step 3: Report to HR.
Step 4: Consult Lawyer.

Ensure all interactions are well documented.

I agree with the previous post. Why are you posting a question like this on a layoff site? How did you come to be in a supply closet? Where are those even located? I really don't know if this is a B.S. post or not, but HR's job is to limit exposure and liability for the company. They are not the police and they are not there for your best interests. Read and understand everything before you sign anything.

Let HR work their investigation. You don't need to discuss with your manager or above unless THEY bring it up first. Companies take these things very seriously.

This is a bullsh-t, time-wasting post just trying to give negative publicity to Optum, as if Optum needed any help lowering the bar. Who posts this kind of stuff on a layoff site? Of all the resources available... right.

Not sure who the OP is - but feeling valued and safe is mandatory in any setting. You were as--ulted and that should be reported. Asking for advice on a LAYOFF Rumor site that is full of disgruntled ex employees may not be the best place for getting good advice.

if it's a higher up hr will cover up, put tracking software on your computer, and put notes in your file for no promos. mgrs and higher ups know about it and talk freely. it sounds like hr will do their job if it's a regular worker per some of the comments.

One thing I trust is that Optum/UHG takes these seriously. Ask HR again if you have been waiting to hear something in 2 weeks or less. I am 100% sure they are taking it very very seriously. I am in Management - and we all were told if I don't take these types of things with proper care I will be terminated for negligence no exceptions. Any coverup all chain of command involved will be terminated. Rest assured it will be investigated and if you are proven right in your claim, then yes things will get rolling.

It takes a second for hr to investigate…but if I was inappropriately touched, I’d be contacting an atty.

I can guarantee you your supervisor’s manager already know. I would not break the chain of command unless you’ve allowed enough time for HR to schedule time with potential witnesses and speak with you supervisor and the other employee.
HR doesn’t take this stuff lightly, I have seen someone termed for it. In fact, I was a witness HR interviewed. After HR interviewed me that person was let go not long after. I know they interviewed others after me.
If in 5 business days you haven’t received additional correspondence or an update, reach out to HR.
I’m very sorry this happened to you.
