Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Are there any good things about Lumen to be thankful?

Looking for reasons to stay vs daring to leave

I am grateful for Lumens dysfunctional process, buffering systems, and lack of care towards employees. Myself, along with many, many others were able to take full advantage of a ton of overtime before being sold to brightspeed, due simply to the Lumeb terrible systems, overseas support and dispatch, and just plain disregard for their employees. I made out like a bandit, and funded asime fantastic trips on the incompetence of the company, as well as many others. Brightspeed cares about it's employees and customers. I am truly grateful for Lumen, as it has paid me well, and now we are Brightspeed, life is good! Merry Christmas everybody!!

Thankful to have and education to fall back on. Feel like Lumen takes everything away from their employees and community. The economy would be better off without them.

I am thankful that I still have a job and health insurance. I don't think Lumen will be around much longer as a company whether they declare bankruptcy or are bought by another company. I have been here over 20 years and have seen many mergers/acquisitions and the consequences of those mergers. Right now I am hanging on since I am a few years away from retirement. I do trust in God for my provision because He is faithful.

Thankful and lucky that i like my manager who came up through the system. Not an outside hire that knows nothing about the job or what it takes other than crunching numbers. Thankful my small group of coworkers are all friends and hard workers. That we can laugh with and at each other every morning and afternoon. Thankful im still employed after 28 years and retirement is in sight. Theres plenty to dislike about this company and how its being run and has been run for the last 15-20 years but the job itself hasnt changed. To the people that quit and moved on good luck. I hope you find the career some of us have been lucky have here. To those who have stayed our finish line is in sight.

Thankful that I don’t have to put up with this nonsense anymore! Thankful that I am respected at the new company I am employed at. Thankful I don’t have to listen to nonsense and poor leadership! I could keep going…

Thankful for being able to wake up every Monday to another great walk on the beach video that captures our hearts and minds.

Thankful my payroll checks don’t bounce.

Thankful for our health insurance used to treat the various health issues that arise from the undo stress of working at Lumen

The only thing about Lumen to be thankful about is that you'll know what a terrible job at a really bad company is, when you are able to escape and find a good job at a great company!

best: remote workplace, pto, people, paychecks

worst: merger messes, patchwork of old systems, poor use of people, dtl, woke, corruption

I am thankful that I left CenturyLink a fe months ago. So you can be thankful that you might get an insensitive to leave now! That's about all I can think of.

I was with the original PTI and CenturyTel.
It was a very fun place to work.
The disaster started with acquisition of Embarq. Then came the storms of negative impacts from Qwest. The final nail on the coffin came from Level 3.
Level 3 is the worst. They have no idea what Telecom is

You're eating today. Right?
You should Thank Lumen for that.
There are too many out there who can't even provide daily food for their family.

It comes down to two items, do you like your job and your manager.
My advice is this and I am not being negative, just mater of fact. Almost all telecoms are the same, it is only about turning profits as quick as possible anyway possible. It is not about the "customer experience" for the high/top levels of management. That is always used on us because we want it to be about the customer. I was at CenturyLink/Lumen for 25+ years. I finally got fed up with managers being bullies and hanging everything over your head. I left and have worked for 3 different companies and landed where I like my job and my manager.. not my company. I cannot worry about it anymore. I make a difference where I can and dust the rest off. If we all do this, it will be better to a point. I do look for the good things now, there will always be bad. And there will always be the horrible people at the top, when everything is grades with metrics and rewarded bonuses. I worked for CenturyTel when there were not metrics and performance bonuses graded by the metrics. It was far better... Customers were happy and employees where more pleasant. Sorry for writing a book here.. Bottom line, I am thankful that Lumen showed me what I did not want to be.. miserable.. I found a place where I like my job and my manager. That is question to asked our ourselves.. Happy Thanksgiving and I hope everyone can enjoy their day and find happiness in their little piece of Lumen, if not, go find it.. it may take a couple of companies but it is out there.
