Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Just wanted to say…

Seeing a lot of posts about folks hating on their bosses. But I’ll just say it’s very likely most of your supervisors and managers feel the same way you feel about things. As leaders, sometimes they have to do and act certain ways because the position requires it. But it doesn’t change how they really feel about a situation.

Oblivious Manager
There is definitely a misconception that a Manager knows more than they're telling you. I am one. I don't know anything about layoffs or realignment or anything. This stuff is being kept very tight lipped. Most Director roles don't even know what's going on. Y'all be careful ragging on Managers. I know we're supposed to be your go-to, but when we don't have any insight, it puts us in a really uncomfortable position. Just like you.

Me
Thank you for making this post about leadership. People assume they know all and the truth is that nobody below senior senior leadership even saw that coming. My director did not even know. MY VP who is gone did not even know...

You are on bullsh-t if you think sups had a clue the layoff was happening, get out of dreamland. You think that only because you yourself have not become a PL nor do you want to. Joke is on you because it is all the same bullsh-t no matter what level you are on.

The folks on this board won’t understand as most have never been in your role. If you’re doing it right, leading teams is very rewarding but also much more difficult than anyone realizes. That’s why the peanut gallery here finds it so easy to take anonymous shots at leadership.

Just like many commanding officers in many morally corrupt armies. You are in leadership so YES you have insight to what is going on. Now you choose to post here and say “Don’t blame me, I’m only doing my job” Have fun trying to respect yourself.

Ignorance of the law is no defense - Judge Judy

Even if you are a pawn and levels above you are using you to create a layer to distance themselves from reality. You are still a pawn and deserve to be treated as one.

Tbh I tried to understand your point of view and where u come from, I put myself in the shoes of my sups, but no matter what I could not find a justifiable reason for my sup to literally leave me open whenever I have questions about raises, or about the tasks at hand, or about just anything in general. They rarely answer me. They just send me a message on what to do or to ask me why my aux is on outbound for more than 3 mins or why a call was over 40 mins.
Whenever I reach out to my sup when ASL is busy they never ever answer me.
My sup never explains anything to me, they never provided me a calendar of what days we are off throughout the year. (Which is something that all my passed sups have done). They never explained to me a breakdown of what is expected from me, what I can do, and what I can’t do. I literally have 0 support from my sup. Whenever I need them, never there, I message them, no answer. And when calls get escalated they message me asking why I never reached out, but if they were to just scroll a little up they can see I have. Idk I understand sups have a lot going on, but I also feel like they maybe unintentionally play into this toxic dynamic that’s ruining the functionality of the company.

The position doesn’t require one to act certain ways - it’s a choice. Your language lacks accountability which is essential to leadership.

You don't need to be a controlling jerk to lead your team, even if you are getting heat from up above to {insert whatever here}. People at this level do not need to be micromanaged. If they do, fill their position with someone who doesn't. If you feel the need to micromanage your team, chances are you are the one who is out of control.

I will never ever understand why some people find it necessary to justify other peoples abhorrent behavior. Does it help you sleep t night or something? Hating on bosses? You can give them whatever name you want. I have had great sups, leads, bosses, managers - a few of them from Centene and others from past jobs not with this company. I have also had absolutely horrible ones with no moral backbone and Centene is at the top of that list. Get off your high horse. As I saw in another post - if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck - hey guess what its a f'cking duck.

This company lacks leadership, starting at the top, unlike OPEN AI the day Sarah is out people will celebrate.

You got me with Bosses, Supervisors and Managers switched to "Leaders." That's just not the case.
