Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Layoffs Citi Schwab

With the layoffs at Citi and Schwab I am once again thankful I work at Fidelity. While it happens they are small and rare.

Don’t know about us being Mid place to work other than I’m a mid manager in mid 50’s with mid 7 figures! Fidelity has and is a great place to work.

Not getting laid off is fine and dandy. But you're underpaid. The 7% match and 10% profit share and your shares don't add up to what you'll be making at a top tier place.

If you're afraid of getting laid off this is a good place to work. B performers do well. Superstars do better elsewhere.

We have nice offices. But we're in dumps like Jersey City, MMK, and usually far away (like Westlake isn't so close to Dallas). Everything is a trade off. But there are never guarantees against layoff. Company has been overhearing and it can happen.

Remember, VBO is a form of layoff for old people -- if you don't take it, you're f***ed. If you want to be here past 55, you better be in the ML mafia.

But you'll have a nice 401k due to the profit sharing. If you need cash now for a down payment on a house, home renovation, or college, other companies are better fits.

And the bonus funding came in high again, showing once again showing why it’s so great to work at Fidelity! No layoffs , good bonus percentage and come January I’m sure full 15%
Profit sharing for 30+ years in a row.

contractors being let go don't count as layoffs. The point of using contractors is the flexibility to bring them in and let them go as workloads require.

You think they are anything like Citi or Schwab have gone done? Not even close and besides 2008 extremely rare in customer facing roles and 2008 was only like 2%.

That was once 16 years ago. Roger Lawson was an exception to the rule and most people I know played off were back at Fidelity within the year.

no sense of history, eh? Fidelity is the last to lay off, but when they do it is massive (2008-2009, they dumped 10% of FTEs after dumping ALL contractors). it was like 4k people.
