Time studies are conducted so that metrics can be fair. I work in a dept where metrics were decided from a team who inflated and rigged their numbers and then turned around and complained the metric was too high. A true time study will make numbers more fair.

This is SOP (standard operating procedure) for most professional companies with highly productive workforces. It is likely someone could be doing this in your area and you’d never even know. I was on a team responsible for doing time studies for a number of areas within Centene. It’s how areas look at and determine new processes and technologies, and/or then validate newly implemented processes and technology are holding to their justified standards.

On another note: individuals who have a background in this are highly paid and there is always work as a consultant. You might consider taking advantage of learning more about this position and how it can benefit you while a participant.

How about letting the people who actually do the work WORK?
Let’s conduct a VIP level time study. How much time for hair and makeup, How much time for caviar & champaign. How much time waisted talking to the limo driver. ect, ect.

It sounds like they are thinking of uping the metrics for the department/team productivity numbers.

Or, maybe they are thinking of changing some of the ways the team works (or new programs) and they need to get a base line for current procedures so they can measure it against anything new they might be thinking up.

What department are you in? They are micromanaging like crazy. So tired of the game. I’m looking elsewhere, I don’t need to be babysat.
