Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Abusive working relationship with EGS/India

Even India is short-staffed so US resources are starting to have to cover EGS hours because they don't have the mental skills to manage their own workload.

This place is so mismanaged, it's an absolute wonder it isn't just falling to pieces. We're quickly approaching the next system outage that impacts customers.

Indian hires are just numbers and a "labor" force to do cheap repeatable work. Even the talent they hire in India is average and below average by Indian standards. The smart folks in India look for other opportunities and are expensive to hire. It is cheap labor who will follow whatever is told. Out of Box thinking is absent due to their education system. And their communication skills and people's skills are terrible. There are no managers. Even a manager has an individual contributor's mindset in India. I have worked with them and they always argue and try to prove right instead of understanding the issue, LISTENING and looking at the bigger picture.

These are the kind of people we are dealing with:

With a heavy Indian accent "Hello, thank you for contacting the technology helpdesk. My name is Michael Obrien. How may I help you?"
"What is the nature of the issue? Can you repeat that? Please provide more information."
"Try rebooting your computer, that might correct the issue."
"Rebooting did not correct the issue? Ok, I will escalate the issue to the level 2 helpdesk and someone will contact you within the next 10 days. Thank you, have a nice day!"

I cannot understand the Indian tech people when I call the helpdesk. I’ve taken it upon myself even if it takes 8 to 10 hours of work time, to figure out my own computer issues. Sometimes it takes a few days, but I’d rather have it fixed correctly than trying to figure out the answer from unintelligible English. This is a sad use of time and completely unrelated to my job.

Abusive though? I know it su-ks but that word seems to get thrown around lot which is diminishing its meaning.

Is there anything more aggravating than calling a support desk for assistance with a problem resolution request, no matter how major or menial, and getting a representative with an obviously fake Anglo-American name respond to you with an absolutely incomprehensible string of unintelligible sentences?

It makes you want to SCREAM!!!!!

Outsourcing to India was a thing 20 years ago. All companies like Target learned it wasn’t possible and fully moved development back to the USA, sorry the same can’t be said for Charlie’s Clown House.

The India crew are bottom of the barrel performers. But the work is still getting done because the US workers pick up the slack. What if people in the US just treated them like any other coworker and expected them to pull their weight? Would the India people get fired or would the US person get told they have to “make it work”?
