Big deals

Any sales folks not getting paid on the latest big deal bookings? Seems to a new trend developing.

I delivered 175% yoy growth this H2 so far. But still sitting on 80% attainment. The company is now ran by Toxic and small minded sales management. Voice of the field result is just BS and waste of time. Summary is we know we are bad, but we are not going to change, just listen to the koolaid on AI, multicloud, online.

It was a Billion dollar deal and no storage attached as it was ancillary to requirements. It was AI which by in large doesn't require large storage arrays. Last statement was to educate storage that workloads are on servers. Nvidia has everyone by the neck as we are all trying to give away our stuff and sell their stuff which isn't a sustainable model.

In Iberia the same. Last Q really had to fight to keep my windfall deal. Some sales also commissioned on the deal has hit very high attainment because of it and have had their target now increased mid quarter to compensate for it.
I'd walk out the door if they pulled that cr-p on me.

Windfalls get reviewed by leadership every quarter if they hit the dollar threshhold. They have added more and more guidlines to make these things stick. Simply put, if they can windfall you, they will. The goal is to pay out less on large deals. I saw a windfall get inforced on a $20M storage deal because the opp was not created a full 6 weeks in SFDC before the deal closed. It was created 5 weeks and 2 days prior and they inforced it saving themselves from paying out the account team.

I have also seen them create rules on the fly to inforce a windfall. Bottom line, if you are closing a big deal, expect to be windfalled, especially if you are into 2x or 3x modifiers. Windfalls help save a huge amount in OpEx and created natural attricition, which is the end goal for Dell now.

I’m seeing windfalls be pretty brutal to my team. I think there is some pressure to lower commissions. Better have iron clad documentation.
