COBRA opt-in deadline?

Hey all! Any insight into the deadline for choosing COBRA and the cessation of our benefits?

the Sev you received has already paid for the short term cobra you would think this would be automatically given to the exiting employee however this is not the case. You have apply/submit the action for short term zero cost cobra to the employee. Also- the HR person advised perhaps to delay applying for unemployment until after you receive the severance (this is bad advice) apply the day after your last day because your sev. will take 1 month to get (at least)

you have 2 months to decide on cobra.
always ride out the 2 months. if you get ill in that time you can buy cobra retroactive

then after 2 months go on wife's insurance. In essence saving 2 months' of premiums

You need to opt in to claim the first two months of Cobra otherwise you health insurance is on hold. Do this the day after you are terminated. After two months Dell bills you each month if you opt in for continuing Cobra.
