Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Comments about the 11-15-23 Town Hall

My initial impressions:
Why does Sarah London look like she just finished a workout and a bottle of wine? Athletic shoes, sweats, messy hair and a flushed complexion? Doesn’t inspire greatness or confidence in her leadership abilities.

Not sure on the RTO thing but it’s clear they believe they’ve got a morale and engagement issue.

The moment the employee gives up and no longer feels connected to your mission is when they no longer care about doing a good job, or even keeping their job. That’s when the house of cards falls.

I got busy with my work while listening and lost focus of the meeting, it seems I didn't miss much.

I didn’t see all of the Town Hall. What was said that’s leaning people to think RTO is coming? Idk how that would work, most of my team isn’t even local.. plus they sold our building if I remember correctly.

Speculating: Today was laying the groundwork for pulling people back into an office.

Again, I’m speculating but you could read between the lines that all the culture and one Centeam talk was a precursor to future
conversations.

How much do you want to bet their “listening tour” results in “hey…everyone said they want to work in person…!”

It sounded the opposite to me with the office…sounded like she was glad people were remote but I dissociated through most of it so could’ve missed it…and some of us live 100 miles from an office so oh well…and they’ve already sold a ton of their real estate…

I've been laid off already (August layoff team with 20 years). One of my old co-workers said that she was introducing a new person that came from Wellcare. He didn't say anything else besides that and it sounds like from the comments, this was a colossal waste of time as usual?

That town hall felt like a huge waste of time. They didn’t tell us anything of substance

Thanks for laying me off, Centene, so I don't have to listen to this mindless, obnoxious drivel ever again. Real MVPs!

"If you speak truth to power at this company you will be speaking the the unemployment office next."

I strongly think this is what caused my People Leader to be laid off last month. He held no punches in our 1 on 1 discussion about BS he found and called out in the organization.

This is just a whole bunch of grandstanding - nothing of substance at all.

I am so bored with the Town Hall. Lots of words, but very little has been communicated.

This feels like that tik tok pre school teacher talking to her class.
"Ok, class we're gonna talk about what these BIG words mean today, got it got it? Put on your listening ears and let's talk about what success means to you."

A listening tour? What a colossal waste of time and money. Ask the people who were laid off and they will “speak truth to power”. Everyone else will just tow the party line to avoid being targeted for your next layoff.

So they talk about how important the local touch is while simultaneously removing the local, or even American, touch. Bravo!

who cares what she’s wearing, it’s internal. that said while I think she gets some unwarranted criticism, she’s certainly no MFN.

And did this guy actually use the tired phrase “speaking truth to power”?? Hahahaha

Not to mention she spent 20 minutes saying absolutely nothing of substance.

Hi Sarah, we would like basic things. Internet reimbursements, bonuses, and raises that are in line with market average. We want money and time off. If you’re gonna dress like you’re relatable, then please actually be relatable.

I was wondering the same thing! I thought she might have a cold, but maybe a lunch time workout bc she doesn't sound congested 👀

She is able to dress like that but yet I was coached before a interview with a SVP to make sure to dress nice and not be too casual.

I find it oddly insulting for her to dress like that, as CEO. Like we (her employees) aren’t worth her taking the time to put something nicer on.
