No talk of layoffs

Should we consider ourselves safe for now?

If a CEO ever voluntarily, unprompted, states "no layoffs", you can guarantee there will be layoffs

@2dyh+1pB5OgS0 I am one of the working bees. I am doing the work of about ten people which is impossible. I've broken already. I'm interviewing. As soon as I get anything I'm out of here. I'm sorry for the working been that'll inherit my work. He'll have to do the work of twenty people. And good luck to ExxonMobil finding a replacement with my level of productivity and experience. But I know that Darren doesn't give a rats a$$ about quality work or productivity or me or you or anything. I guess he will hire some indian shlt. Good luck to him working 18 hours a day for the company to get all this done.

If you are at the bottom of the ranking, you better look for a new job. Hard to dig yourself out once you are marked. O&G is a commodity business with razor thin margins. Wake up people, the only way to meet the dividend target is to reduce headcount, move jobs to low cost countries, and to pile work onto the willing worker bees until they break.

Chosen ones will come straight out of the universities because the brainwashing needs to start early.

There won’t be any layoffs but the hiring targets will be very low. With regular attrition and 5% PIP rate, the US population will continue going back likely more than formal layoffs in 2021

Yes, you are safe. If there were going to be layoffs you would be told. You don’t need to be looking for another job, your job is secure at Exxon.

Yeah had a friend the was PIPed. Not sure how it happened as they were regularly relied upon for important deliverables. Only thing I can think is there are targets to reduce headcount so 10% or so have to leave one way or the other.

For those of you that don’t remember, 2020 statement went out re no layoffs. Then the Voluntary and Involuntary emails went out. 1700-1900 people?

“We have no plans” is not synonymous with “we are not planning”.

@uhk Whenever the word “planned” is appended to something like that, assume that it’s going to happen and prepare accordingly.

Please.....do not trust management. Haven't you learned yet?
If they need to get rid of you, they would certainly not tell you in advance.
The ax and block are ready at all times.

If we on Spring Campus are paid by a subsidiary in South America, does EM have to submit a WARN Notice to Texas?

When Darren announced “No Layoffs Planned”, we had layoffs.

Must always worry about layoffs even when assured by CEO that none are planned.

EM would probably do a layoff and blame the two recent acquisitions instead of the true root cause is hiring in India.

Bruh….

WARN notices are out and there’s two threads going about who is affected. They are literally conducting layoffs.
