Thread regarding USAA layoffs

How does USAA get away with firing people so easily?

I know, Texas, right to work, arbitration etc but some of the stories I hear coming out of there are just downright egregious.

watch out for the ageism they practice as well. If your 45 or older chances are your making top of your pay window and you will be critiqued and first in a layoff. Top performer will not matter. good luck.

There are some very unethical people who work there. And that type of behavior is rewarded. They seem to be past the point of reversing course even if they wanted to. There have been various attempts at a cultural reset over the past few years, all of which have landed with an empty thud. There was a cultural reset roll out in 2020 that actually had a coordinated round of team calls and activities, centered around healthy challenge. That's been largely abandoned as healthy challenge doesn't align to USAA's true culture, which is: fake military adulation and grief po-n (exploiting and monetizing the real suffering of military and their families) along with silencing and brutalizing employees.
The "USAA behaviors" is the latest half hearted attempt at a reset; perhaps because even senior leaders have grown weary of shoring up USAA's crumbling facade there was little to no fanfare around this and no team rollout or conversations whatsoever. In fact the first I heard of them from my manager was a disciplinary action in one source a.k.a. "You're not adhering to these behaviors we just made up and never told you about." Their foolishness would be laughable if it wasn't so destructive and malicious!

It’s because the organization could give a flying fu-k about its employees. They showcase all these benefits to the public, and gleefully shred work/like balance.

I am applying externally, but if someone grows some ba--s to call the Teamsters to get organized I would stay hust ro rattle their chains.

They are sneaky as f@#$ is how. Smile to your face, set you up and stab you in the back. They wrote fake reviews at year end and signed the names of managers that were no longer there. HR complaints sent it back to business leaders that refused to address. Then employees managed out.
