Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Does anyone know why only certain people were invited to the town hall of 09/28?

i know it happened a while back but i keep thinking about it. Im a CSR in NYC and i just keep thinking about why only a 3 people from my team were allowed to go and the rest werent. I also do not like how things are functioing here. ASL is very rude and disrespectful, except for a few. And honest to god, the pay isnt worth it. I feel like im living check to check and cannot handle it anymore. The job isnt bad, i actually like it but the pay doesnt equate to the quota they are demanding. It's not worth it anymore.

I thought everyone got the company email with the zoom info for the meeting.

Are you sure you didn't just missed the email. They send so many emails each week it is easy to miss.

If not everyone got the invite email then maybe it's about how many people can log into a zoom meeting or maybe it was sent to ppl in departments they knew were going to have higher number of laid off staff.

Sorry, should have clarified- I was watching the meeting online, many of us not in florida were invited on zoom, however, majority of the people around my team were not invited to see it on zoom. That is what i meant and for the record, idk what kind of delusional reality you are in but no you cannot save money making below 40k in NYC. Be realistic. This city is getting expensive by the day and even making 100k in NYC is nothing at this point. How is it possible to save when everything around u continues to get expensive, raising the MTA, tolls, costs of food, rent, etcc... so please be realistic and reasonable. These things are hughly affecting people and being told "to just save" or "cut-back" is an answer that causes people to feel disregarded, its not easy to save when living in the most expensive city in NYC..

There are over 50,000 people working for the company. They likely invited people who were local to the area and a few from each division and health plan. They want to keep expenses to a minimum which is why there might have been 200 people in attendance.

You mean the one in Tampa? You're in NYC and expected the company to offer to send 60k+ people to Tampa? Flights, hotel, meals...lets conservatively say you could do that for $500/person... that's $30 million to attend a meeting when they are in the process of cutting 2000+ positions.

Why do you stay in your job if you aren't happy with it?
And while this sounds harsh and cold, living paycheck to paycheck is a personal decision thing. I know of people with high 6 figure salaries who live paycheck to paycheck and I know of people making $35K/yr that are able to save money, take vacations, etc. If your skills allow you to make more, go make more. Regardless of what you earn, live on less. If you made less you would have to learn how, right? We all rationalize our spending but the truth is almost all of us could cut expenses if we needed or were forced to do so.
