Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Can someone confirm if managers telling us 1% is accurate? I'm reading 10% (not 1%) which would mean around 7K employees laid off. True?

I'm seeing 10% being confirmed as the real number, not 1% the managers are telling us. If 10% is true that means around 7K employees, not the 750 being told to us.

Obviously the draconian Return to Office / Future of Work was meant to force attrition so they wouldn't have to payout severance packages. It was discussed in a recent department meeting in a way that was somewhat direct and somewhat evasive. I brought up the 10% figure and it wasn't disputed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a classic case of our leadership eating their words and backtracking in hopes the leak cools off. They want employees to be in the dark and continue to work productively so they can surprise us with a job elimination later. Maybe it's a little sprinkle of truth where it's 1% "for now" but 10% overall. For my specific department (I won't give it away) our leader acknowledged the recent layoffs and said that we should not see any more layoffs for "the rest of the year". So I guess I am safe for a few months until 2024 when these layoffs picks up again. So needless to say I have been actively been applying to other jobs and quietly omitting my "personal touch" that make important processes work in all my internal documentation (P&P, job-aids, & talking points etc).

Our manager said 10% in early September… then two weeks ago just before it started he said 1% if the global workforce (but only US positions)… and 3 days ago he said 10% again. I honestly think it’s 10 or more and the 1% was the “messaging” that the legal HR team was hoping everyone would convey down. It’s all corporate math. Used to love the place and the culture but now I’m just polishing up my resume.

It's 10%. Although they're well on their way already. HB4 here. I started looking months ago when I found out I'd have to drive 2.5 - 3 hours a day to work virtually in an empty office out by an airport. Found something and this is my last week at this dumpster fire of a company (It was once awesome, btw, as many of you know...).

My Band 6 boss told me about a month ago that whether it's from attrition or 'other means,' we had to cut headcount by 10%. Those executive salaries don't pay themselves. Good luck to everyone. My timing of bailing out feels very fortunate.

I’m in CM. Band 3. Supervisor was laid off on 10/12. Then our director had a meeting with us about it. Director didn’t say much until someone asked if our jobs are safe. Director answered, this was just the first stage there are more coming. And none of us are safe.

Wow!! I understand business need etc but to admit to all the front line employees none of our jobs are safe?! WT actual F.

Now I’m wondering if Cigna really does layoff “front line” staff bands 1-3 or if they just layoff the higher ups who have a bigger salary. Anyone know??

Hmmm.... I'm curious if 10% is the actual number, but maybe it will be done in phases, as opposed to all at once. 2% this quarter. Maybe 3% Q1 of 2024. 4% in Q2 of 2024, etc. If that's the case, that's even more anxiety-inducing!

They do these rolling layoffs they might as well close down as who is going to stay seeing that happen.

It was 2K from a prior post. Which is not the full 1% . However I have it on good authority they will have rolling layoff until May when they hit 20%

Manager said 10% across all band levels last week. Heard about people getting walked out of the office buildings Thursday or handing back laptops/monitors to security.
