Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

How long were you with Anthem?

In my time with the company- its become very clear that Anthem does not care at all how much time you put in or how hard you work.
You’re just another body. If they can pay someone else to do it cheaper- they will. I know this is how a lot of bigger corporations are, but damn…

I also wish they were transparent about the layoffs. Every other day another email goes out with a vague- “so and so is leaving the company on 10/20.” Call it what it is and tell everyone they aren’t leaving because they wanted to… they are because you let a bunch of people go.

To everyone that was RIF’d- how long had you been with the company?
I hope you find way better jobs with a company that will truly value and appreciate you. You deserve better.

25 years and was let go Sept of 2022. Decided to just retire and enjoy the rest of my life with family. Best thing that ever happened to me and my advice to everyone specially to those who are eligible for the severance package is to just hang in there and take it one day at a time. Do whatever is required of you and nothing more. This company does not care for their associates anymore so why should you. Do your work and when it’s time to go home then go and spend time with your family. Work will still be there the next day so do not stress yourself out. Before you know it you will get that call from HR and all this nightmare will be over. Good luck and take care everybody.

28 years. C'est la vie. At least I am 55 and can retire after my 6 mo of benefits. It's a gift really. I was thinking of retiring anyways. This way I get a nice bonus. I am glad to have held on for so long but I will not miss it all.

Years of service actually hurt your chances of being safe from a RIF. As the years go by, I feel less safe.

7 yrs with a few best performer. Still part of RIF. I gained a few good skills that I am going to use at my next phase of career. Leadership ask me to share all the knowledge with those are safe. Can’t write a book. C-level people deserve their munchies.

I was not let go, but I personally knew of a few that had 20+ years as well as two people that had 30+ years and at least one that had 40+. There were also people let go that had only been here for a year or less. I've seen numerous layoffs with this company but this was the worst one by far and it sent a loud and clear message to existing employees that their tenure is of no value so it is best to just put in the absolute minimum amount of work because you are going to be randomly laid off one day because an executive that has been at the company for 6 months and will be gone within 3 years needs to meet his/her quota.
