Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

I am so burnt out

I am burnt out to the point that I want to be laid off. That's the only way I see out.

Why is the person who posted this burnt out again? If you are burnt out go on LOA and let the rest of us pick up your work you left behind.

I think for those of you lucky enough ti still have a job should count your blessings. You should remember those of us who do not have a job, trying to support families. Shame on y’all for wishing a layoff. Maybe you’ll get your wish and be right here with the rest of us without jobs while the market continues to tank and become even more over saturated by those of you who would rather be laid off than have a job.

@lmh+1p7Edr3e You really think you matter? You are just another body.

Everyone I have spoken to feels the same. Elevance is going to be dealing with an unmotivated and demoralized work force moving forward and I don't believe it will be good for the bottom line.

They should send a survey out see who would like to be on a potential layoff list/early retirement. That way those who don’t mind going can go first. I still like my job here and working remotely is a major bonus when you live in a rural area. What I find disturbing is when they lay ppl off out of the blue and all we get is an cold e-mail saying so-so isn’t employed here anymore.

Many RIFs (including myself) I talked to, and no one want to get laid off at this time. Because of last quarter of the year and no one is prepared to start searching of another job. My recommendation is to be prepared with updated profile, interviews and other things. It may give to little peace of mind.

I want to keep my job until I find another, but if I were laid off it wouldn’t bother me one bit. I will take my six months to relax and job search.

I understand. I actually said just this same thing last weekend to my spouse. I am grateful for my job, but also burnt out and wouldnt mind being let go. It's possible to feel more than one thing at a time.
I also think it's probably role-dependent. Everyone I know works unpaid overtime, at least 5 hrs per week, some 10 hrs per week. The managers know and pretend not to see because of the way they have tied OT approval to specific, clearly unrealistic metrics which have nothing to do with the actual time on the clock.
I am actively looking for another job, as are many others in my role. But as another person said, the market isn't great and despite my burnout, it's better to be here right now. I'm on the medicaid side, and very few are hiring due to redeterminations.
In any case, I'm either losing my job now or in a year from now, so maybe I'm just mentally preparing.... I'm in one of the 4 major metropolitan areas in Texas that lost their medicaid contract effective fall 2024. It's coming for us no matter what.

If you feel this way, it's time to start looking for another job. This is what you would need to do if you were let go anyway. I wake up every morning praying I don't lose my job as I'm sure others do as well. This is stressful, causing a ton of anxiety for everyone.

I'm viewing this as venting and a request for some sympathy and therapy - which is just fine as we all need some support in these times.

If not, this is just plain foolishness. Thousands are losing their jobs every single day and my bet is that they'd love to have a job and/or at least have the opportunity to switch jobs while being employed. It's very bad 'out there' and with what may be coming will only make things harder on all of us. Fear leads to anger so keep that under control best you can.

Americans need to get smart and toughen up fast. The ruling class around the world doesn't care much about the people nor their countries - that's indisputable and it's not going to change without people voting for better leadership. Be smart and be educated and learn to adapt and adjust as that's the best way to start turning things around. While no system is perfect, the version of capitalism and government 'we' had that made this country strong and free has long since disappeared. Sure, there's remnants still left but it's going to take years to get things back to where everyone will be confident in what we/they build and making it last and benefit everyone.

Just a thought....Good luck to you and everyone else.
