I believe the decline of HDS started in 2015 when they bought Pentaho which resulted in the creation of HV two years later. This has been a ship without a captain for many years to come.

Summing up the last 7 years or so
HDS --> Add Pentaho for a few billion and rebrand as Vantara --> Add Hitachi Consulting --> split Services from initial HDS and HCC into new HDS (Hitachi Digital Services)
The goal each step was to get relevant again but the cloud, IoT, and AI focus was just branding and they've lost nearly all talent over this period. This has been a giant failure over a period when nearly everyone else in this space has BLOWN UP. Sad to have witnessed.
Thank you Hicham! He drove the Pentaho acquisition then moved over to destroy HCC. At least he's not mentioned anywhere in the latest Hitachi Digital nonsense.
