Has anyone who was laid off Aug or before received their severance or unemployment?

Why would you not file for unemployment? While the rules to file are state specific you basically just have to report each week that you're seeking employment. Severance doesn't affect unemployment...at least not in my state. If you don't file you're leaving money on the table.
My neighbor was a Sr. Director for another Fortune 500 company (General Electric) who was let go last year, given 10 months severance plus took unemployment for the 3 months he was looking. Found a similar position with another company...
BTW, for those of us that are separating in December you may want to delay your severance until January to save on your taxes. Unless you are working starting Jan 1 at the same or higher salary the savings can be significant.
