RTO Seems to be collapsing - Certain orgs in Chicago made TW

My whole organization was just made TW in Chicago due to capacity issues. I heard its happening elsewhere as well. Now just have to go to the office 1-5 times per month, but the supervisor is encouraging once every other week or once a week.

Thank GOD, no more 11-hour days sitting in the car for 90 minutes each way and the god-awful traffic. Bout time someone came to their sense.

“ I thought the company wanted to get to 9 locations only and then eventually to Dallas and Atlanta only.
Why is the company retracting RTO for areas that are outside the 9?”

Customer facing “market” employees aren’t part of the move to the nine hubs. It’s not being retracted for us, it never was.

RTO is dead, stick a fork in it! 'Bout time Stankey came to his senses. All this wasted cash on RTO for nothing. I just knew it would end this way, I mean, has at&t ever, I mean ever, implemented ant process or project from start to finish successfully? They always get partway through a project then throw in the towel.

Did the San Ramon employees get an email to confirm Feb 2024? Does anybody know if this applies to El Segundo / LA employees too?

Re: Employees in San Ramon were told their RTO start date got pushed back to Feb 2024 but their OI's are not changing.

My group in San Ramon started reporting Oct 2nd.

Every single time they walk back RTO is a good thing. I don't think we can say RTO is dead (yet). Wave 2 is still coming. But everytime they have to walk it back strengths out case. I just hope it's not too late.

I have an employee in Chicago who got this notice yesterday. Here's what we were told. There isn't enough seating and T isn't going to spend any money in that location. Select employees (no all) in Chicago were identified as going back to TW with two caveats.
(1) the TW only applies until wave 2. It is not permanent and does not remove them from wave 2.
(2) Those employees are expected to visit the office at least once per month.

Note: I'm told employees in Centennial, CO got the same emails but I don't have anyone there so I can't confirm. Employees in San Ramon were told their RTO start date got pushed back to Feb 2024 but their OI's are not changing.

Well RTO had a good run while it lasted. This is just another failure on the part of at&t. I can't think of any process or project they have successfully completed during Stephenson/Stankey era.

Re:
What legal law would be the basis for this?
See it often here. Just because something is unfavorable to employees or seems unethical to some doesn't mean it's illegal. Even if you have not signed a waiver for severance, I would be surprised if you could find a lawyer to take this case.

…agree that all that is unethical is not illegal. Disagree that it’s not lawsuit worthy:
Good lawyer will argue the selection of who goes and who stays is “arbitrary and capricious”

"Retracting RTO for some and not all is a problem and probably a good lawsuit.
Company should have been aware of this and instead, it let some people quit."

"What a load of cr-p. Those who have already been or are about to be surplussed should sue. The policy is full of inconsistencies."

Can't do that. Everyone took or want to take their severance, and by doing so, you agree that you're cool with everything and can not sue.

Seems concerning. Those moved to tw will probably be at the top of the layoff list.

How did company not foresee capacity issues?

Very strange — either a major oversight or intentional to accommodate some employees and not all.

Retracting RTO for some and not all is a problem and probably a good lawsuit.
Company should have been aware of this and instead, it let some people quit.

If these people knew it was going to be retracted, they would have dealt with it for the time being.

In addition to this inconsistency, there are some people working from small remote locations that have no other employees in their group. These “special accommodations”
Are ripe for another lawsuit.
Waiting to see how company addresses the variety of RTO treatment.

Yep. I was made TW since my location has no seating either. I’m the only one in my group with it though. Everyone else’s locations has seats.

If TW, you are still expected to go to an office 1-5 times per month. All TW have that requirement now.

Please clarify.

If you are TW in your occupancy code, does’nt that mean FULL time telecommuter.
If so, why is your supervisor having some expectation to still go in the office occasionally?
