Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Which support departments are “safe”?

Does anyone know which of the support groups should be worried? (Supply Chain, Accounting, TechSol, etc) How does Exxon have those structured?

If you are an engineer there are so many expats from India working in the XTO office that they started celebrating Indian holidays at the office. The Indian engineers have been hand selected to get experience at XTO and then go back to India to build up the BTC (Bangalore Technical Center) where ExxonMobil plans to do all of global engineering in the future. Unkept secret the goal is to move all of engineering out of the USA. Happy Diwali!

If you are an operator or involved with production operations in Midland you are safer. ExxonMobil has no use for any non technical positions. ExxonMobil has had issues with staffing in Midland some of you will survive.

No PXD employee is safe. XOM has Argentina, India, and KL, they don’t need any salaried employees. Hourly jobs will be contracted to illegals coming across the border. XOM has been lobbying to get work permits for illegals. XOM needs to cut $2.1 billion just to pay the additional dividend next year and every year after due to the PXD acquisition. PXD employees are the synergies. In some cases, XOM employees will be moved to replace the jettisoned PXD employees, but most positions will be moved overseas.

Support is all offshored to India so I would plan on looking elsewhere.

You won't hear a THING until the closing date. Not even sure about finding anything out then. Ask me how I know? Hint, I work at DEN.

No one and I mean no one is safe. The $2 billion in synergies is essentially going to be heads

Exxon needs very, very few PXD employees from Las Collinas. No one is safe. Enjoy the robust oil & gas job hunt in PXD and having to move and get a new mortgage at these rates. Scott will be thinking of you from his villa in Cabo.

Safe is a relative term here at EM. Even those close to the wellhead can be replaced by one of our (soon to be yours) esteemed colleagues from Bangalore.

Corporate functions are highest risk (acct, proc, hr, it). Safest are those next to the wellheads (pumpers, LOs, ops)
