Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Unionize!!!

Do you see what is happening all around you? Auto workers, healthcare, workers, actors and writers… I bet they are not negotiating for a 3.5% merit!

I spent 30 years there and regret doing so. I was in leadership, and barely got an acknowledgment from anyone above me as I left. State Farm lost 10 policies from me and I know enough people to fan the flames of Unionization. Organizers are coming your way. No more mandatory OT; less workweek. Bullsh-t that none of you have to take.

The epitome of State Farm, not caring about you by the fact that Wensley, who has done an awful job has not fixed anything is destined to move up as soon as Paul Smith retires. Do they care about results? Do they care about your sentiment? Nope. At State Farm you can just be in a job, have done some thing impressive 20 years ago and they strap a rocket to your back. Never mind that you have not done a good job lately…. You fit and image and have been chosen.

Someone from HR and public affairs will chime in to this post, call me an id--t, ask me, why am I posting this on the layoff site and start refuting the content. Maybe they should pay less people to monitor this site and more people to actually do claim work…

You have nothing to lose by exploring union representation. DO IT

I unionized 10 years ago at SF but no one joined...a union of one.

Once again, if you want a union, you actually have to do something. Here's the AFL-CIO site for forming a union: https://aflcio.org/formaunion

I'm sure they'd love an opportunity to organize State Farm again, since the last serious attempt I can find was in the late 60's, when a claims unit in New York organized with AFL-CIO/Insurance Workers International Union (now United Food and Commercial Workers), but I have no idea what happened with that attempt other than State Farm was ordered by NLRB to negotiate.

No. The down votes are just tiredbof your pointless whining, with absolutely no effort to actually bring about the change you seek.
Spineless people talking about union has been happening for at least a decade. NOBODY fears it. They just don’t take you seriously.

boy is this thread full of SF HR/PR team. Looks like a topic they are very afraid of. All we have to do is reach out to one of the established unions for help on this right?

If you have taken the time to survey “every customer/agent facing role” why can’t you find the time to initiate the union drive?

by

Post ID: @6nub+1p2Hqw2f

I know every single person on my team would support it, as would all customer/agent facing roles. Shame there isnt a real effort here.

Don’t you love when someone posts actual facts the resident HS , miserable retiree chants corporate stooge? Now you can understand why he could no get into a college and got terminated by the Farm. He just posts nonsense with nothing to back up,his ludicrous comments. And then when someone posts a response he chants like an 8th grader which may of been his highest level of learning.

Curly, or is it Moe? Based on SF’s increased growth versus competitors and its massive capital position, , and garnering the highest financial strength ratings from Moodys and AM Best that only the top 5% of the industry achieve, and customer satisfaction ratings better than its main competitors (some niche market players score higher) it would appear the answer to your question is a resounding YES!

Got a lot of paid corporate stooges saying how great it is at SF. Since Tipstard took over its been a cluster. He's single handedly ruined the company. Only question is...will it survive?

If you were looking for a reason why this site is worthless then this thread is for you. Out of the 22 comments only 3 even reference unions and and even those 3 lack anything insightful or substantial. This site once contained helpful and at times even meaningful comments. Now it is just 3 or 4 people bickering among themselves on meaningless topics. No bueno.

The real question employees of State Farm today is: Do you think you will be in the same financial position as the retired employees from the past? Anyone with any common sense would answer no because you will not get the same benefits as past employees; therefore, it begs the question: Is the job worth it?

I rescued this corporation from my doddering predecessor with his speech impediment. I navigated it on a course that has generated unprecedented prosperity. Why, then, do you people detest me so much? Do your work, stay in your lanes, and appreciate that which I have given you.

Remember their mission is to cancel and use power and control of independent thoughts. How? By name calling, arriving at false conclusions and exhibiting power and control. Speak up. Be a lion and not a sheep. Corporate oligarghs survive by eating up sheep. Stand firm!

@zij. I highly doubt the OP was there for 30 years and contibuted zero to the company success. Furthermore, I could careless as to the a$$holes I reported to. Thet had zero moral character. Like OP the problem with SF is leadership only cares about themselves and play their mindgame politics which hurts the company and takes from its success. I saw it coming long ago before any of you were out of your mothers womb. Those who keep the promise keeps the ship afloat. The rest are just corporate fat that leeches off the heart/workforce. As far as union goes, it may be a good wake up call just like the Gutuirez case is Calif where leadership got caught working the employees overtime without pay. Slavery? Yes, they will do it if they can get away with it. Make your life miserable? Yes, if they can get away with it. Keep every record you can. I did. Play their game in their ballpark and beat em at it.

You were there 30 years and contributed nothing to the Company’s success. There was a reason no one acknowledged your departure-you were despised. Your direct reports hated you and management above you thought you were totally ineffective They often believed you should have been terminated but in their “SF nice manner” looked the other way. Their unwillingness to terminate you reflected poorly on them and let down the employees that unfortunately reported to you. Now in retirement you regret your failures and spend your days trying to inflict damage to the company that employed you for your entire working life and enables your current retirement. Your failures as an employee are just as apparent as a retiree. Miserable, incompetent people cannot change as evidenced by your posts.
