Required to work while on "garden" transition leave?

Access to systems cut off the day I received the notice. No work for me & enjoyed having the 2 months to decompress from the 60 hour weeks, 6-7 days a week, from the crazy micro managing, from a directive one day, to - stop what you're doing, do this directive now, from being told you're exempt & we can work you however many hours we need & on weekends, etc, etc, etc.

I was lucky & found a job soon after my 'formal' layoff date

I worked almost to the end to ensure my work was properly transitioned to the next person.

MY Director was very gracious. The morning of my layoff he said i “could take the rest of the day off”! “But tomorrow, I could finish up a few things” WHAT A SPORT! Of course that was impossible due to all access being cut at 5pm then day i got the call. I miss that place less every day. It’s a sh-t show and will get worse.

My director was laid off, and continued working.

Well since they’ve shut down ALL of my access the day I was informed, it makes it difficult to do much of anything!

Is yours requiring you to work? If they are, ask the benefit people if they are still there or the actual person that notified you. Garden means garden (done).

I was explicitly told (Apr/Jun) all worked stopped during "garden leave". And trust me, I was good with it. Never had so many naps. Could have cared less about remaining on "good terms". I did less than nothing for them - like they said I should.

I don't know how the Hocus Pocus WARN sham works, but the garden leave = WARN notice right? Don't allow them to take advantage of you. If asked to continue working it isn't a matter of not slacking off, but more a manager that may be trying to plug the hole that will be left before you exit. And that's a no.

Maybe YOU are taking advantage of someone, and polling to cover yourself?

60 days. Some may get slightly more. I think mine worked out to 65 days. You do not have to work during garden leave.

Mine was 60 days in 2022. But since I wanted to remain on good terms with everyone inside or outside the company I kept working through the 60 days, while looking for employment on company time. You probably don’t want to slack off too much as you may need references or job referrals in the future.

Not required to work on garden leave. You get 60 days of that.

Your salary continuation period starts after your last day of employment(last day of garden leave) and you are no longer employed or beholden to TMO.
