Rumor is they laid off 5% across the board today with no notice

It was 10%. 6500 people , managers were not involved for input on who, just top level execs looking at positions.

I was eliminated also. It was a webex where the director came on and coldly read a statement with barely any info. December 1 last day. Emails, “in coming days” with other info on severance. Access to buildings cut and expected to wfh the next 45 days LOL.
It was via WebEx calls. Each area has two calls at the same time. One group is told your safe, the other your fired
5% seems like a big number to do in a morning. Was HR and/or the manager informing each person? Or was it a more automated process?
I heard that too. One guy from my area had 30 yrs and was five years from retirement. He had no idea and doesn't know what to do now
