Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Clean up continues- CDN

CDN customers sold to Akamai. Was an insignificant business with no hope of competing with Akam or Cloudflare.

Hope there is more behind the scenes for Akamai to use the Lumen network.

The company is reaffirming their desire to go chapter 11. How can large shareholders like Blackrock sit back idle watching them dismantle the value? Some of what they're selling off would be good piece meal parts for a private equity after the 11 and the debt is primarily gone. Better Call Saul

Akamai said it anticipates the transaction will add approximately $40–50 million to their revenues. I sure hope we didn't just give away $40-50 million a year for nothing.
Compared to our revenues and our debt, $40-50 million is nothing... but it only takes $290 million to give a $10k raise our 29000 employee many of whom havent had a regular merit raises in 7 years. Maybe you eliminate the bargained employees who have negotiated raises as part of their contacts, sales who's comp is more commission based, vp levels, etc... and bring that down to 19000. Then you're at $190 million. Tell me we got $190 million in this deal where the buyer is going to do nothing but take on additional customers and make $40-50 million a years.

Seems like the service market share was less than 1%... So, it may have been given away to Akamai to keep the customers happy on other business.

This explains the stock price going up about 7% today.

I wonder how much is insignificant?
Interesting that none of the stories include the $ ammount.
If indeed it's so insignificant, how's it really going to significantly help us apply more focus on distruping the telecommunications industry?
If it's not made known before hand,
you know an analyst will ask how much on the 3rd quarter earnings call.

Another piece being shed, what will eventually be left standing?
