What's next for you?

After this RIF are you going to stay in the Health Insurance industry?

I was rif’d in 2019 at 20 yrs. I switched industries and am very happy. There are rough days, and I am looking forward to retirement. No place is perfect.

To person feeling companies don’t hire US workers in their field? Try looking for companies that do IT National Security research. As a recruiter I’ve not hired one h1b visa in four years. Our government contracts don’t support it.

To anyone recently laid off. It’s hard, but keep positive about yourself. Good luck!

I got riffed and I’m looking at opportunities outside the company. This is my 2nd layoff at Anthem/Elevance and I’m tired of it. The endless cycle of hiring/firing that goes on daily in all of corporate America is insane. How about paying CEO’s a little less for starters? So frustrating.

I opted in and would consider staying at Anthem. I am 25+ year employee and this is my 3rd layoff. I always end up better than before and the benefits and perks can't be beat. Don't take it personally. Layoffs are just part of working for a big publicly traded company. I am old enough that if things don't work out with Anthem, I will probably teach for my third act. My most recent position wasn't a good fit so I am okay with having been picked for the RIF. Gives me freedom to explore many options and side gigs.

Friendly advice, if you are eligible for the severance package just ride it out until you get Riff’ed. Do what is expected of you and nothing more and don’t ki-l yourself trying to impress because believe you me this company no longer care and will never reward any of your hard work. Take it one day at a time and try not to stress out too much and before you know it you will get that call from HR and all this nightmare will finally be over. Trust me, from someone who have already gone through all of this, there is life after this horrible company and it is definitely better. Take care everybody.

Everywhere seems to urgently need more h1 visa, but it seems few hires American in my field.

I am planning to stick around, the pay is descent and the benefits are really good. I have recently received a job offer (in a different industry), well they will match the pay but the benefits are cr-p in comparison. I am realizing finding a company to give me 5 weeks (or more) of PTO is a pipe dream. And if I am RIFed, at least I will have some severance pay while I am looking.

I am looking at other industries. Health industry is very gloomy and has caused me to get depressed. I had opted in to the deployment program but on second thought it’s best to move on.

I'm leaving the payer side of healthcare. It's a giant mess and the payers have ruined their business.
