Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Told not to talk about last week...

I just found out we're not suppose to talk about what happened about anything that happened last week because it's being monitored on teams!?! This place is a disgrace on so many levels...

I think it is all around, my team was also told not to speak of it whatsoever

They should just let people go the same day they are informed as this is uncomfortable for everyone. I hate hearing the term your safe. No one is safe so please keep networking and looking elsewhere...it's hard to trust Centene or anyone for that matter. Hard to respect anyone. Culture is leadership responsibility and they have failed us.

It sounds like that direction was for one particular leader. Don’t think it was for all teams.

It’s an uncomfortable situation all around.

Not knowing who was/was not affected enterprise wide has created confusion. We don’t know if key partners on efforts will suddenly disappear.

My manager told the remaining team members. Not like we didn’t know who was laid off. We all online working one minute and next we get a meeting invite only for a few of us. We thought we were gonna get cut and we were the ones that survived this round

Our PL didn’t tell us the names of those laid off. We were also told not to mention it unless the affected person(s) told us directly. We were also told not to discuss amongst one another out of respect. It was kinda easy to figure out who was let go because we were told this in our huddle Friday after being told we were “safe”. I’m sure that would not have been announced had those missing been in the huddle. I’m so sad for them because they are really hard workers and an asset to the team. Makes me very uncomfortable about my own future here. Just keep your pencils sharpened and affairs in order . You truly never know what will come given the uncertainty this has created for all employees.

My manager told me I could tell who I wanted on our team it was up to me. I’m in UM. If they are afraid of us telling anyone why didn’t they just pay us until 12/1 to stay home. I wouldn’t say anything bad on teams but if someone asks I’m not going to lie. I agree there has been nothing said right my team which very much makes me feel not part of a team.

Before today I might have said the same thing but my team did talk about it in our team meeting today. Yes, I do wonder "why me" as my last review I ranked an EE (Exceeds Expectations) and my manager was pushing for my promotion. My mgr and director both say they had zero input into the decision. I'm inclined to believe them as they have been honest with me over the last 3+ years I've worked with/for them. Not going to lose any sleep over it... as the saying goes, I was looking for a job when I found this one, I'll find another as there are many opportunities out there.

I’m a UM nurse, I was let go last Monday. I felt like I was the only one let go. This has all made me feel like, why me. Excellent performance reviews and I always meet my metrics. It’s like people were told to not talk to me about it. It will be a long two months.

As someone who had an abusive PL at Centene… can confirm the “don’t share this with anyone” was said to me more than once.

This is how abuse happens - don’t tell anyone or else - it’s our little secret 🧟‍♂️

May I ask who told you that you are not supposed to talk about what happened? (PL, director, etc?)
What area of work are you in? I'm a UM nurse let go last week. (I'm not sure if I was the only one let go on my team)
I am wondering what the deal is with keeping it quiet. No one on my team has said a word, and my PL has not addressed anything at all. It is so weird pretending that everything is business as usual.
I find it highly unprofessional for the PL not to address the situation with the team, or individually, especially if we are supposed to work here another 6-7 weeks. It is toxic/stressful/uncomfortable.
