Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Tech Layoffs Starting in Nov

Tom Tom has done it again, CSTs are being let go starting in Nov. We’ve been understaffed for 3 years, behind on tickets by three weeks, and their solution is to ki-l the customer facing jobs. 10/10 play Tom Tom. I wonder how much of that government cheese you embezzled. I give it two, three years max before they sell this place with their “full fiber” plant that’s a hodgepodge of the shittiest easiest to throw up junk fiber that we’ve ran. Daisy chaining one time use FIATs and burying fiber so shallow your dogs will dig it up. Chalk it up for another instance of corporate America fu----g the small guy over.

Just got hired 3 months ago hoping to stay with the company until I either retired or the company got bought out, then on my 2nd week of being sent to Kentucky for training I find out from an employee that there was rumors of downsizing at least 5 guys in our area. Confronted my Manager about it pi---d off as anyone would be in my position with a mortgage and newborn to worry about, guess he didn't have the ba--s to tell us about the layoffs until after we said something. How the he-l does anyone get anywhere in this company if this is how they run things, I mean they just recently hired 5 guys in the past year, sent us to training and then after putting all that money into us they throw us out like nothing. I bet in the early months next year they're going to start looking for new people again and if they ask me to come back I'll tell them to kiss my a-s. Union is a joke, Manager was so bad they literally fired him last week and I've been here a quarter of a year and still don't have the proper equipment to do jobs on my own.

They love outsourcing jobs. I remember they told first told repair about the "partnership" with the 2 overseas teams. Told them nobody was being laid off and that they were only helping. Over the next 2 years they gutted that team and slowly pushed more and more over till they became barely self reliant. They gutted the rest if repair. The more they outsource the less people Corp has respond to. Why those townhall are a joke. They're afraid to answer real questions so they just use fake questions and pretend there's transparency. Tony and his crew arereal magicians. Made an entire company disappear

Yet they still have irrelevant retail stores shifting sales around with massive waste and overhead. Although one recently got closed in Georgia.

25 total techs across the Pa shops. Not a big layoff but just enough to cover the upcoming bonus season.

They have a magic number to be laid off per area, don't let them make it seem like they do not know. My management said 4 in our area. Wouldn't tell us the magic number of BST/NT to be laid off.

Is there any management being let go ? This place has always been overstocked with many layers of management that’s not needed. I can’t believe they would actually get rid of the techs that are making the money for the company. Typical corporate greed.

Anyone have an idea of how many techs they are looking to lay off. Management says to have no more information than we have

The management in the planner/router dept is a joke!! One mgr never a planner knows nothing of the job process but is good friends with Misty. The other two know the process of the job but lack backbone! They are too afraid of losing their jobs so they won’t fight for their staff. The rules are made but it depends on the day if you have to follow them. Just an overall s—-show of a department/company!!

Only people that benefit is the people at Corp and their bonuses. CORP has been lying about stuff since before bankruptcy. Leadership is untrustworthy to employees. Employees and customers will continue to feel the pain. Easy for corp to do what they do when they're not customer facing. It's why when a person does talk to the high ups it gets fixed or at least pushed off their plate. Hopefully someone acquires windstream and improves the customer and employee experience .

So much for providing the best possible experience for the customer. Less techs after this announcement and the ones that remain will care even less and go slower than before.

Lol! There are zero technicians that will ever see that kind of money as severance. They may give lip service to severance packages, but IF any of this is true, most techs will walk with almost nothing. They’ll even flat out mislead people, take some aside, and swear to them that they are one of the few that will not be let go. And remember, most companies this size will not lay-off enough worker bees as to cause the government to look their way…but since they own a federal judge, maybe it wouldn’t matter.

$60K buyout for NT/BST. Contract severance for CST/splicers. Know of tech with 36 years getting $95K in severance

Can’t make this cr-p up. This place has no direction. Lacks any type of game plan on how to get things done at every level. The management at Windstream is so out of touch with the workforce it’s not even funny anymore. I guess they got to the page where it says layoff techs. Next page =Enforce mandatory overtime on the techs that remain. So much for building a great team and keeping the morale up.

LOL this company is pathetic! How are you going to layoff techs when we can’t even get the sh-t done to start with? Oh! Let’s have another town hall and talk about how great our company is! The customers hate us.

Well its interesting to see the years of mismanagement and poor decisions are finally coming to an end. Years ago millions were wasted due to poorly educated analysts dropping customers speeds instead of correctly tuning customers ports for reliability and error correction.

Combining this with chasing off your most talented staff while promoting poor performers to management positions and engineering roles would only result in negative outcomes.

TLDR: The D1ld0 of consequences rarely arrives pre-lubed.
