Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Should you stay at Intel? A simple test.

ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:

  1. Are you proud to tell your friends and family you work there?
  2. Is your job challenging and are you fully engaged and excited?
  3. Do you respect your manager and do they treat you well?

If you answered yes to all three, stay unless you need money and can't find another job.

Ironically the executives working few effective hours are the ones making the actual workers do more with less.

Wrong questions. The right ones are:

  1. Are you being paid well beyond what you can possibly be worth?
  2. Is your job pretty much taking care of itself letting you “WFH” all you want?

3 . Does you manager have no idea (nor really cares) about what’s going on?

If your answer is yes to all three you’ve hit the Intel jackpot and should stay as long as you can. It’s highly unlikely you may find the same kind of deal elsewhere.

If you’re the guys working for an hour and making 500k then I can see staying is a no brainier, the people forced to work hard for little to no reward seems to be foolish to stay.

  1. You’re happy that intel also employs your wife, brother, sister and several cousins. Bonus if you report to any of them and some report to you. Makes climbing the ranks much easier.

Silly test!
The real test is how likely are you to have a job there in 10 years and are you being paid what you are worth.
You work to support yourself and your family, not because you might think it's cool to tell people you are working for a failing company.
