Why won't Kate Johnson tell us how bad it really is at Lumen Technologies? Is a RIF around the corner? Is Lumen beyond saving? Stock su-ks. Nothing is being sold. All travel is canceled where I work. Who will turn out the lights at Lumen?

She can't tell the truth because she makes 10m and has bought LUmen stock on the dip. And she continues to have terrible service for her paying customers. She has no soul. She goes out and does chats with Brene Brown to look like she is a sophisticated business leader. She should fall back on her Wharton education and do things the old way. My husband and I have been a customer for 25 years, and she has brought Lumen down to the bottom of the pond. She is making everyone eat the sc-m now. The only difference is she likes it.

Because she doesn't have to. The writing is right there on the wall, in plain English, for anyone that would like to read it.

Perhaps, and perhaps now. There is a hiring freeze now.

Pretty much, yes.
She is getting paid a base salary of $1,200,000 plus a bunch more to make up a really nice comp package. They have offered 1400 employees (below VP) long term incentive packages in cash if they stay on. Can't give them stock cause that isn't an incentive. The Channel is traveling - the big wigs are traveling around taking their teams out for fancy dinners and snapping pics on LinkedIn.
At some point the board will have to RIF --- this can't keep up.

Well, KJ is nothing more than a cheerleader. Dispite all the dark clouds of negativity that we all see, her job is to continue to paint a rosy picture of business as usual, make it look like she's trying to grow and turnaround the company, and be the number 1 Lumen Evangelist. If she shows any crack in her armor, does any thing less, even hints of how bad it really is, speaks to the low stock price, talks about RIFs, or anything negative, it all crumbles at her feet and what ever big pay day or merger it is that they are all waiting for doesn't happen and the buzzards swoop in and take what they want for pennies on the dollar.
Don't let them fool ya, there's still travel happening. There are at least 20 people traveling this week on a big boondoggle to Broomfield, that's easily a $40,000 expense.
Everyone is remote and we are getting rid of our buildings so I guess no one will be needed to turn out the lights. hahaha
As I think about it, what is going to happen to all those customers who's businesses depend upon Lumen daily? What about all the data and internet traffic that our crown jewel carries? As screwed up as Lumen is, I just can't see us flipping the switches and powering that stuff down without huge world wide financial and network repercussions. Some company has to step in before we get to that point.
And most importantly, I hope we don't lose the naming rights on LUMEN Field. Bwahhahaha
It's all rainbows and unicorns at Kate's remote office.
Just look at the Q2 results. Negative cash flow when the company is swimming in debt and then lots of capex spent on fiber build. They have to reduce expenses and the fiber build to make sure there is cash left.
Kate has to keep her secrets. It's only for invitation only.
Trust me, you don't want to know her secrets. If you knew, you would cry many rivers. Tell your kids this year's Xmas tree will be empty. Tighten up your belt.
