I’ve read on this website that there is a large resistance to RTO. Can anyone confirm?
One comment stated as much as 30% are not complying. Another stated executives are aware and are planning to take action.

"Are they checking how many hours folks are actually working or just counting badge swipes?"
Can look at DHCP leases on your laptop that it is connected to the corporate network, or, any type of timestamps when login/logout on the network. I'm sure all that stuff is recorded, but depends if they are looking for it.
I am seeing the same, definitely less people around the office after lunch. So as long as I show up at some point and swipe in, I can leave whenever I want? Are they checking how many hours folks are actually working or just counting badge swipes?
They started running reports fyi. In my office we have all kinds of managers. Managers that come in and work a full 8 hrs, manager that come in and work 2-3 hrs and managers that work 4-6 hrs. The 2-4 hrs usually come in at 930am and sneak out by 12pm.
Wow. Interesting how folks are snorting the koolaid. WFH was not a COVID thing for many of us that were virtual pre covid. Collaboration makes sense when there are folks to collaborate with. And no, I am no longer willing to move for a company that does not value me or my time or my experience. Happy to get a package and move on down the road. And I hope u remember that this company forcing folks to move to Dallas or not have a job is the same company that is granting retention bonuses to VPs $500k each and $1m for officers. We are bleeding money thanks to Stankey’s stellar business strategy…..and RTO is a way to gather up the money to feed the senior leaders….same leaders who sit at Stankey’s feet. Also think about why other companies are also forcing employees back to office buildings. It has zero to do with collaboration and everything to do with government subsidies.
Minus commute, breaks, work out time and collaborating; I get a good hours worth of work in on office days.
60% of the time it works every time.
69%
** complying**
Sorry
Almost 62% are compiling overall.
My cubicle neighbor has been in the office twice this year. I guess he’s looking to get let go.
"If it's a 1 hour commute each way, RTO cuts work time from 8 hours at home down to 6 in the office + 2 in the car."
what!? when did commute time start counting as work time
Now that we're past Labor Day it seems like more people are in the office. I'd say on the order of 60% are back in my office. Parking is definitely more packed in the lots.
I like going into the office a day or two per week. It mentality grounds me to work and I like connecting with my coworkers.
However, I'm no longer a fan of being in the office every day having effectively worked remotely for many years.
Can they do that?
Time on the network is being monitored. Be careful about working less than your mandated 8 hours.
This circus is not RTO, return to office meant you are returning to the same place. This is more like return to wherever. AT&T using the term RTO but repurposing the word is not a real RTO. I cant return to a place I've never been to. AT&T employees are being dispatched to wherever.
you are lucky if you get a monitor with keyboard & mouse, this just shows what kind of "leadership" we have
“ Some come in earlier? Maybe some, I guarantee 95% are not coming in before 8am. It’s just 5pm now and there’s 3 people on the entire floor.”
I do know one person on my team who comes in and leaves early because of their commute but it’s definitely true that the office is a ghost town by 5 or so. Have no idea when people are coming in because I come in on the later side (around 9).
You can feel the collaboration and trust oozing all over the place.

Make that 5:
5 in the office + 2 in the car + 1 at Costco.
"Second week back in the office RTO. I didn’t know our hours changed, when did that happen? Did I miss the memo? It’s not even 4pm and everyone left. When did we change our hours to 3pm quit time?"

" Also met with other members outside of the org and learning other processes and discovering other aspects of the business. I'm glad the isolation of working remotely is finally behind us for which the company can move forward for other opportunities. "
Stinkey is that you? Holy fu-k learn to dial down the bullsh-t.

drop in places fill up quickly. Perhaps some come in earlier.

We have a full building today. Now excuse me while I go plug the toilet. I had PF Changs for lunch today to prep.
RTO = BIG JOKE
38% are in compliance.
Can we ban Costco guy?
I'm convinced one dude is responsible for 75% of the posts and comments here. RTO-happy* guy ... you are easy to spot. Get a life and try to do something more productive with your time. What satisfaction do you get from posting here 24/7?
5, 10 minutes max is all this site is worth. No wonder you're so bitter.
*and jealous
"Good. Another 30% coming off payroll easily. No severance. That should help the stock price."
Are you really this ignorant?
"In terms of efficiency I am definitely working less. Commute means I start later and shut down earlier than I would if working from home (and the office is completely empty by 5). I can’t leave earlier in the morning and I’m not cutting into family time at night. Also hopping to meeting rooms and other little time su-ks eat away at work time."
This is not at all surprising and matches what I am seeing. Need someone urgently on Teams? If they are at the office they might be at someone's desk / coffee / lunch, etc for 15-30 mins or longer..
Not equal or consistent. Some orgs mandatory 5 days but not fully compliant in the same org. Sick of this s—-
I don’t mind 3x a week. Simply provide quality equipment and a space for me to work preferable quiet. Idc it’s not 5x and I like the compromise. Stop complaining and go to work
I think people are complying but for me, there has been no benefit at least in the first few days.
In terms the collaboration that the execs are so obsessed with, I have had two meetings in four days where I was with other people in the room and even those were still teams calls because people are in different locations. Other than that I staked out a space in a quiet place that is always available and doesn’t require me a hunt for a seat and where I am not bothered. Therefore my collaboration is exactly what it was before: calls and e-mails.

Long story short this is completely pointless for me but at least I get to look at the d-mb motivational photos on the walls.
For most people, I do not think going back into the office 3 days a week is the big issue.
O
It’s being asked to go to a NEW office that is further away than where they were. Maybe another 30 minutes or maybe 200 miles away.
That is NOT the same as just being asked to RTO. RTO seems like a benign acronym, but for many, it’s a life altering chance.
It would be like the BOD asking Stankey to drive his own car and fly economy. It’s certainly feasible, but he would be whining up a storm if we got that cost conscious.
I think the the percentage is around 80%. Been going into the office five times a week, to exceed the minimum requirements. The office spaces are great. I've met with peers within my organization, in the spirit of collaboration to catch up on news. Also met with other members outside of the org and learning other processes and discovering other aspects of the business. I'm glad the isolation of working remotely is finally behind us for which the company can move forward for other opportunities.
"You do you, boo."
what's your LB name?
Good. Fire the 30%. Less layoffs and no severance. Win win.
“Over 75% of companies are RTO. Why should AT&T be any different? I think it should be 5 days a week. I know I get more work done in the office.”
Agreed totally don’t get the 3 days a week deal. Makes zero sense.
People don’t want to go back to the office because their student loans are starting back, child care (mine are driving me crazy), husband or wife ( mine is driving me nuts), chores, Costco and Publix runs, making dinner, doing laundry, I could go on. Working at home makes work secondary.
Ask any lvl 2+ manager. They have access to the PowerBI site giving all the numbers.
