Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO Covid nightmare

RTO has infected MANY with Covid! They cough into the air and barely wash their hands after using the bathroom. it’s NOT the flu and
Should not be treated as such. I know some who are very sick after getting Covid but were healthy before. Morale in the toilet, company leaders could care less, pathetic

Old people worry about Covid. Stankey was right, gotta get younger.

" So, does everyone need to stay home? Let's have absolutely no contact with anyone."

You do of course understand that this is just about having to work in the office, right?

I am no fan of the utterly transparent farce that RTO is, it is completely ridiculous on every level. And no, I don't mean "RTO" in the generic sense that applies with most employers, where they actually have space and accommodations to being their workers back. You know, radical stuff like HAVING A CHAIR AND DESK FOR THEM.

So I am by no means defending what has been going on here the last couple months BUT, I do see the hypocrisy from those that now live their lives completely normally, as they did pre-COVID (concerts, shopping, etc, all maskless) yet would have us believe they are mortally terrified of the office. No one is buying it. So save it.

D-mbest. Advice. Ever.

Can they fire everyone? Probably not, but will fire many, to make an example out of them, then the rest will comply anyway. Or they might not be firing people immediately, but make sure they get to them during future layoffs, when they have replacements ready to go.

They'll know, alright.

The “crybabies” poster is a snotty nosed brat (putting it nicely) with less than 10 years of service who will be looking for work sooner than later. You’ve had 2years to get your no-experience resume out to companies who will hire you with minimal experience and education. Get your az off this website and find a job you’ll last at. Sorry not sorry but the CEOs don’t listen to peons so your demands are mute TROLL

I constantly sneeze in the office due to allergies and the building is dirty. Sorry. Not sorry. Get them to clean the building.

I’m not really too concerned with it all. I go in, sit alone and don’t talk to anyone. Headphones and Tubi tv all day.

It has mutated down to the strength of a cold, or worse case scenario the flu. So get back to work and talk about something you know.

Biggest flaw in the covid mania, the current variant isn’t like the others (yes the first couple were bad and could be deadly for people with underlying health conditions and the elderly) and each new version is less and less, so your stories of getting sick, dying, hospital and ventilator do not apply to current variant or even the last couple. The newest variant is at worst a bad cold, most symptoms are mild. Educate yourself, ignore the hype.

My work at home arrangement was in place for over 10 years long before COVID had an impact. The commentary that RTO is about punishing poor performance is short sighted and tastes like the Koolade leadership has been pushing for years. Virtual work arrangements are not for everyone. You have to be disciplined and there is strict criteria you have to follow (not so much during COVID). This entire initiative is about cutting long term employees, reducing expenses and trying to pay for all of our leadership’s mistakes and pending retention bonuses. Let’s not forget about the 100m food court in Dallas amd HUGE losses we have experienced under Stankey. If this was about collaboration then everyone would be told to be in Dallas. And please ask the folks I. Dallas if there is enough room for everyone.

Over spending and poor leadership combined with underestimating employees will continue to erode employee loyalty and highlight just how clueless our leaders are…….sending me to a hub where no one else I engage with is located is laughable. Thanks for the inadequate seating and poor execution. I will wave to everyone from my laptop while sitting on the floor because we are stupid. And for those of you applauding this as a winning initiative, I do hope this works out for AT&T, but ask that you remember this when you are 20-30 years in and how employees were treated.

"Stupidest thing I've read in a long time."
Not stupid at all. COVID will continue be a serious pandemic that will impact us all. It is prudent to use the available health directives to insure everyone is protected. Who would want to end up in the hospital from serious health complications from COVID? It's a no-brainer, if you ask me.

RTO is not a nightmare, COVID will be treated like a common cold. Stop making excuses and get your a-s back to work.

The executives are pi---d and the 4th quarter is gonna be a bloodbath. They’re prepared to have one bad quarter. In exchange for a good 2024. They’re planning on doing the whole deal in one go. You won’t have to worry about RTO at AT&T much longer.

I should stress that leadership is choosing to go after bonuses because those who refuse to RTO still make up a significant portion of the workforce. Obviously they can't fire such a large portion of the company without sustaining a massive financial burden, so they are quietly trying to whittle down the numbers.

What they especially don't want you to know is those who refuse to RTO actually have leverage over leadership right now.

Don't let the opportunity go to waste. Fu-k the badge swipes. Stay home, let them know.

Just stay home. A third of the workforce isn't going in and they're struggling to determine a punishment. Latest rumor says they're gonna try to cut the company bonus for anyone who doesn't comply.

Given how terrible the company bonus is, it almost doesn't matter.

RTO is here so let’s just get used to it.

But can’t we just all agree on some common sense regarding what to do if you are sick. This wasn’t a contentious battle before COVID. Why isn’t it just smart to let folks work from home so one won’t spread whatever they have to others. I don’t care if it’s Covid, flu, or a bad cold. We have the tech to let us effectively work from home while we’re feeling bad (if you’re too sick to work, then take a sick day).

This is what I’m gonna do.

You were allowed to stay at home and did minimal work for at least 2 years. If you no longer want to work at AT&T, leave.

So the office is the only place you can get covid now, huh? Funny how that works.

Here, I thought Union Dregs were the "crybabies". You "managers" have gone far and beyond on the "Poor me Spectrum". It is tiresome. Go to work like most of us have been doing or find some other company to work for and complain about.
