I was curios if what's happening to at&t is what's already happened to century link or lumen!
I am a technician in construction and engineering at AT&T and I feel we are all headed in same direction but by the looks of it this company is ahead of us in selling off pieces of itself, in particular the copper!
We are no longer able to get supplies to repair or replace copper! If there is any job that requires cable to be ordered over a 200 pair requires 5th level management approval!
I feel at&t will sell off the copper to Apollo or anyone else that wants to buy it!
Did lumen sell off all copper to Apollo?
any technicians on here that can shed some light on this! are you no longer repairing pots lines just fiber!
much appreciated for any insights on where we are headed!

Good luck to you. I know a lot of losers jumped for Brightspeed too but at least the ex-Vz crew has experience in running a telecommunications company. They had some interesting comments recently about how the network was in much worse shape than they initially thought. Like we all knew and know.
I’m one of the guys that went to BRIGHTSPEED. Glad I did too. Jeff Storey s**ks, plain & simple. It took that dude less than 2 years to bankrupt a 100 year old company.
We still repair both pots, copper hsi & fiber.
Previous commenter was right, Storey skimmed the big money businesses & then sold us.
That’s OK though because those business customers were with us because of the local techs, not because of Storey.
I’ve been winning customers back simply by showing customers what Storey did.
I’ll keep taking.
Att announced, they are cutting 15,000 in 2023.
Lumen didn't sell off only copper, they sold off the local exchange business entirely in a bunch of states after skimming off the enterprise and government customers they wanted to keep. The rest of the LEC business, who knows? Under Storey, that was probably Brightspeed Phase II.
As for material, it's getting harder and harder to order stuff period as suppliers discontinue products as demand and sub components become unavailable. Cross connect wire is gone except for dead stock, at the moment. Copper repair has been on the back burner for years. Lots of spans that are just left in trouble.
