I’m only speaking for the area where I work, but I must say that the people that were chosen to be laid off here were those that were a burden to the overall team. Four in particular thought they knew more than everyone else, but their performance proved otherwise. The only reason they weren’t fired was because they knew how to work the system and su-k up to weak leaders. In some instances those leaders were also shown the door, but in other instances, they remained because they had great teams that made them look better than they actI ally were. In effect, those so-called leaders took credit for the success of the team, not because of their skills, but because of the strong business ethics, initiative, and self-drive of their direct reports. Unfortunately, along with the id--ts that were laid off went some great performers. Now we have a mix of the remaining poor and strong performers, and leaders with similar characteristics, leaving those strong performers and leaders holding the bag while the remaining id--ts keep sliding by.

Had to refer back to this thread to further comment as the one particular loser in the Central region to which was referred, continues to haunt those who remain employed. How, you may ask? By their total lack of work and the hiding of some of their dirty relationships with vendors who had been lining their pockets for what was probably years. Now, that person is getting paid under the table by a relative. Does that surprise me or anyone else? Nope, it’s simply a reflection of their sh---y work ethic. He’s commented on this thread and said there were five people who left, but what he failed to mention was he was the reason they left. Good riddance you fat fu-k
Wow, This post seems a bit too "Douchey" to have been authored by one of those productive and caring types....
We lost alot of good people, all over the age of 50, and made more money that most. All the people in the "clicks" were kept on, even though the people who were let go outperform them by miles.
This is the most poorly executed layoff I have ever seen. They will layoff what they think is needed to hit numbers and as a nod to wall street and investors, not thinking about the people, culture or morale. T-Mobile won't recover. They will lose good people over the next many months who leave because of how cr-ppy this has been.
Wish I could say the same for my org. We kept the entitled parent type that so minimal work while expecting everyone to cater to them while losing actual good workers - team members.
Learn to use more than one paragraph when communicating multiple issues/thoughts. Separate paragraphs, like the one below, make it easier for the reader to follow your thoughts.
Doing otherwise makes you look like an inconsiderate dûmmy who should have been part of the layoffs.
Your post, with the premise that the layoff was good because bad performers were let go, was completely contradicted when you stated
"Unfortunately, along with the id--ts that were laid off went some great performers. Now we have a mix of the remaining poor and strong performers, and leaders with similar characteristics, leaving those strong performers and leaders holding the bag while the remaining id--ts keep sliding by. "
No layoff is a good layoff
Another dúmb a$$ troll post
It's funny to read some of the comments here, especially those from people who are upset because they got called out on this thread. You know, the people that got laid-off with a severance, that really should have been fired and received NOTHING. Instead of whining on this thread or others, they should be happy they received a severance. If hadn't been a layoff, they would have been shown the door with no severance or unemployment. So, for them there is no real difference between what they were doing at work and what they are doing now...NOTHING. Good riddance and Bad luck meatballs.
In my group, they kept a weaker one, fired a competent one.. bs.
I am one that got laid off and to be honest, I am happy. There was a time that I would have fell on a sword for team magenta, but last few years T-Mobile no longer cares for their people. They hired a bean counter and that is how the business is ran. I know of one group in particular that at least 5 people left their manager because of their micro management/entitled so-called leadership style (long before the layoffs), they are so happy now. I got a severance and am happy that I can now peruse other opportunities....
I agree with the person who originally posted this comment. I’ve seen posts where people said they were Peak and Winners Circle awardees that got shown the door, but what they didn’t mention was that they received those awards because of the work performed by others for which they took credit. I can think of one person in the Central Region that fit that profile to a tee who was let go even after winning one of those awards. Why, you may ask? Because that person took on a single task for a short period of time while pushing all of their other work on one of their direct reports Of course, they were doing the same thing previously, but in this instance they seized on the opportunity to take on a task that had high visibility while ignoring all of their other responsibilities. The so-called cat was let out of the bag when it was discovered that they weren’t performing their job and only seized on the opportunity of high visibility tasks so they could look better than they actually were. Many people saw this and actually reported it but again, the weak leader who managed this person was too stupid to realize what was going on right in front of them. It’s just too bad that some of the other weak leaders and employees weren’t booted at the same time, allowing some of the stronger leaders and employees to remain employed.
I hope for you that you can work through some things, personal only to you. Probably goes back a long way. God speed.
Oh, and if you don't have any mirrors in your home, buy one.
sounds like nothing changed - you got rid of some of the trash and the treasure, so you have less people to work with in the future with more work to be done. I'm sure this is great for morale.
