"A recent study from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) found that remote working might not be as productive as once thought. Workers who were randomly assigned to work from home full time were 18% less productive than in-office employees, either taking longer to complete tasks or getting less done. This contradicts previous reports showing a nine percent increase, adding to the ongoing debate about the return to the office, with business leaders disagreeing with the long-term benefits of remote working."

"In another study, Stanford scientists at the Institute for Economic Policy Research found that remote work productivity depends on the mode of remote work. Fully remote work is associated with about 10% lower productivity than fully in-person work. Challenges with communicating remotely, barriers to mentoring, building culture and issues with self-motivation appear to be factors, according to the scientists"

RTO is just HCSC not meeting the moment.. it’s a little sad considering all factors. Leadership have flexibility to make exceptions is they wish to and knowing how it impacts employees real lives but still refusing to provide any path to telecommuting opportunities is sad. Leadership have flexibility to be out of the office or leave early due to their work-life balance needs do all subordinates have that same flexibility? I think not. It’s not about if they are required to it’s about setting the CULTURE of caring about your employees more than just what you have to do. Some companies will meet the moment and some won’t.

Well shoot...if "most studies" say it, it must be true. If anything can be trusted, it's nameless studies, conducted by consulting firms, paid for by the companies who are pushing RTO. Idk where you work, but attrition in my area has been through the roof for over a year.

Frankly the complaints on RTO are getting rather tiring..

  1. Most studies now show that less work is done with WFH. People are generally more productive in the office for most roles.
  1. You are free to leave to find a company that is fully remote at any time.
  1. No one upon hire was promised a permanent work from home HCSC position.
  1. Turnover has not skyrocketed which indicates the majority of HCSC employees do not find RTO intolerable.

Maybe it is time to move on?

This is not Snapchat it is your work. Ppl shouldn’t post things at work that they wouldn’t say to someone else face to face. All the people up in arms over nothing also had their names and other information captured. Bet me money in it.

It's hilarious how many people showed their a$$e$ in those comments when they misunderstood his article and thought it was about ki-ling WFH. Good luck ever getting another internal job there after people saw how you commented.

If I was leadership, I would have a round of layoffs and tighten up the ranks. It’s so much fat in this company. Start with all of these director, SR director, ex director, Dvp,. To many chiefs and not enough Indians. Secondly, flex will be tied to what the VP of the area. All directors and above should be in a company office at least 3 days a week. Of course sales should never have to come…..

I loved how they were letting people sound off in the comments of that garbage until a few people started taking shots at Maurice's salary. Pretty stupid to send out a communication like that with no details or context a full week before making any announcements. No wonder communication scores are always so horrible on the Blue Pulse surveys.
