I logged on to my computer this morning and couldn't get to teams or Outlook or any of the internal applications or websites. Then I couldn't authenticate to my computer at all. I drove into one of the offices and bit by bit on conference calls with my supervisor and the help desk, got some of my access restored. We were on with them 4 times. My supervisor is not in the habit of restoring access for surplus employees and really needed some guidance. But he didn't get full instructions without repeated calls. They had told us in our surplus conference call that we could not submit fsa or wellness claims after today so I was a bit apoplectic. Thankfully, when I finally talked to somebody from HR One stop severance dept, she said we have till March to submit. 🥴 Tonight, I wish that I drank.

OP here. Actually the very first thing that I did was to clean out my email and my laptop after saving the things of personal interest and a few files I knew I would still need in the last 2 weeks. I had done everything else, even watching that stupid ple training video. By my last day I did not expect to have a single thing to do except submit my expenses and say my goodbyes. Thankfully my supervisor was committed to restoring my access for me, even if he had been the one to inadvertently remove it early. Ah well, on to better things after a bit of vacation.
unless its different for layoffs, HR doesn't put in for your accounts to be disabled. Thats your boss.
The website where your boss submits the request to disable accounts says midnight on the day selected. meaning the START of that day, not the end. So thats on your boss.
surprised they bothered to restore any access back.
I had all of my stuff squared away 2 weeks prior to my last day. By the way, I resigned in October of 2022 and gave 1.5 month month notice specifically because of the cluster in HR. I didn't want to take a chance on them messing up my pension and 401k paperwork.
The day before my last day on payroll I had wiped out my computer and wiped out my COU of all information.
DO NOT WAIT until the last minute.
One of those life lessons, never wait until the last moment.
Why would you wait until the last minute to take care of basic items? It sounds like your surplus was overdue.
Cr-ppy experience on my last day as well. But only because of total lack of compassion and a fumbling bumbling maroon.
OP here. I was salaried and worked a schedule, which was actually a welcome break from my prior role, where I tried to do a job that should have been scoped for two people and I worked 60+ hours most weeks. But yes, I think someone didn't give a rat's * what pain they put me (and others, I assume) through.
HR wanted a long weekend. So, they purged everyone early and went home. Salary employees are required to work every day, but not required to work 8 hours. They don't reprimand themself.
