Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Take a week or even a month off

If you were affected this week, my advice is to take a week or even a month off before you devote yourself fully to your job search. If you can afford it, of course, but severance should help with that. These last few weeks have been hard for all of us and our mental health has suffered. Don't take that baggage with you to your next position. Let yourself heal for a bit. That's just my 2c.

Bad advice. I'd get back in the job market as quickly as possible.

"I recommend anyone laid off to consider increasing their 401k contributions during their 'garden leave' (if they can afford it) to maximize company matching in the time they have left as an employee."

I have not confirmed yet myself but I've heard this 401k contribution stops as soon as your informed you're let go.

I recommend anyone laid off to consider increasing their 401k contributions during their 'garden leave' (if they can afford it) to maximize company matching in the time they have left as an employee. And use those health care benefits like dental.

And yes, take some time off because you probably won't be able to take a long vacation after starting a new job. Time flies!

Just make sure you don’t take a job before your “garden leave” ends or you will forfeit your severance, as you are still employed through that period. They will consider you as having quit. Look, yes, but do NOT start until after your true separation date.

Did nothing? I saw this would happen to me eventually. I lived below my means for a decade getting ready. I laughed and took the money and left.

After all the "We love you" BS from the SLT? These people have every right to complain about how cr-ppy TMO got. The network is getting worse every day. Now with such a smaller crew it is really going to su-k. People that worked hard for this company for decades being treated this poorly is wrong whether they prepared for the layoff.

Every one of you saw the iceberg approaching for years and did nothing. Layoffs stink and T-Mo leadership is the worst.

This does not absolve the workers from taking precautions so stop crying about how a bad organization treated you.
