I keep thinking I did something wrong but I can't figure out what.

don't worry about it. hold your head high and move forward. many people get laid off over their careers so it's not a big strike.
with ai it's about to be more common.
there are many reasons and sometimes it's just because they relate to other people more than you. don't worry be happy and you'll attract more positivity.
Add Albuquerque to the wonderland list. See today's news from the NM governor. Reap what you've sown, you've done it to yourselves. Stop blaming everyone else for the messes you make.
I can’t imagine being such a loser that I see everything disintegrate around me, FOR YEARS, but surprised when I become the target. You deserve to be let go if you lacked the foresight to see this coming.
“Mommy, why me? What did I do? I thought T-Mo wuv’d me.”
Simple it’s all in who you know literally all that matters in this company. Performance, awards, stretch assignments none of it matters. It’s only if you know the right people and are in their group
Maybe they picked you because you live in a red state. Kidding but really in their own headquarters where they have the most employees for the whole state of WA it was only 401. 65 or so for NJ and around the same for Kansas so where did all the layoffs come from? Maybe they got rid of all you red state people
I've one Peak and Winner's circle and was still let go. Never had a bad review in my 21 years. Some of the best people I've worked with during that time were let go too. The thing that hurt me is may pay has been maxed out for the past 3 years. Being cut would have been a gut punch a few years ago, but its a bit of a relief now. Its just the uncertainty that stresses me a bit. I have little faith that the current C level guys can run T-Mobile successfully for long. I definitely see challenges ahead.
The only consider performance if you’re making the same $ as your peers. If there is a discrepancy in compensation, but the same job title, they are keeping the lower paid. Hence, most of those let go will actually be the higher performers - as t-mobile used to be a “pay for performance” culture. Appears they are now as “keep those who are least expensive” culture. As Mike clearly stated, it’s all about money. :|
(Oh, except when it comes to leadership. Different rules apply. Then they are padding their friends pocketbooks and vying for those exec DEI numbers- paltry and pathetic as they are).
For those of you wondering “why you”… I encourage you to be okay not knowing right now. Maybe you can find something out through friends, ex-colleagues, etc at another time. Now doesn’t have to be the time to ponder the why. This is our reality now. T-Mobile didn’t take care of us, and we may not have confidence in why we ended up on the cut list; but there is a huge family of ex-employees willing to vouch for your talent, and lend an ear, and do what they can for those of us who know what hard-working, loyal employees are. They’ve been where we’ve been. And from what I hear, most turn out MUCH better after the initial shock wears off.
… Here’s to moving from the “why” to the “he-l, yeah”.
I am positive it wasn’t just performance. There were plenty of PEAK winners that were let go.
On some teams they completely got rid of “ Associate” titles. Those aren’t your highest earners.
I guess with that decision they wanted to leave the more “experienced”
My friend was a casualty of this blanket title choice. He was doing a better job than most seniors and had recognitions all over smh.
Was all about labor cost savings. Some might be high performers. But it was for the most expensive workers.
They usually were also the most tenured and older.
It’s old school forced early retirement.
Love the PNW
It was performance-based at least for my team and few others that I see.
Enough. This isn't the place to talk about your imaginary fairy tale friend
High performer here. Recieve tops in ops and peak... deployed numerous ran equipment. I even created a forum most of you guys use....
Hellhole? Ouch. All in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. Where will you be moving?
I was chosen because:
- Over 55
- Worked in Bellevue (20% higher in cost than elsewhere in the US)
- Salary at/near the top of the scale.
I've now got the opportunity to
- Move out of the Pacific Northwest with a bolus of cash in my pocket
- Settle down in a part of the country significantly less expensive than the hellhole of the PND.
- Find something with 100% less stress.
I am sure you did nothing wrong. You are a casualty of corporate greed, terrible leadership, and bad timing. You did not fail. The SLT did.
This isn’t meant to be negative or sarcastic.
I truly believe GOD has something bigger for you.
You shall FLOURISH as the People of God! Expect GREATER! 🔥
