Apply EARLY because even if you are initially rejected, you’ll be in the system as soon as you are approved.
HR friend told U.S. Bank people laid off May-Sept even though they received severance, to apply the day after their lump sum is deposited, which they later said was very helpful as they didn’t lose out on any payments.
