Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Legacy Wellcare

So is it true that most who got the axe were legacy Wellcare? It cannot be because they were more senior or capped out on their salary because new hires are coming in at the same rate of pay if not higher. Why would they layoff the most experienced???

I'm going to disagree with "underperforming" are first to be let go. I was meeting all metrics and exceeding expectations on yearly reviews. I was let go.

Underperforming or difficult to work with are usually first to go. But this isn’t just about performance. They need to lean things out. Your salary and how much they can save is equally important. If you are over the mid point for your salary grade you’re a target - especially if there are people that can absorb your work.

@5cec+1ouyq0fU It’s always the underperforming employees is what I am told

I’m aware of layoffs on both sides. Leadership is careful to not target a specific gender, race, age, team or location. In te always a mix. Young and old. Black and white. CNC and WCG.

Whether there is a rift between legacy centene/legacy wellcare or not, people are being let go despite their work ethic. I think people are worried about their jobs and just want to know if the wellcare employees are targeted for lay offs or if it is just across the board.

Like the previous poster said, the lack of accountability from Centene reps are abysmal. My manager came from WellCare and they (Centene Sr Manager and Director) treat him like sh-t, yell at him while we’re on calls (I’m a supervisor and know some of the sh-t they yell at him about we shouldn’t even be on the phone, listening to) and when he tries to defend himself or explain things (he keeps excel sheets and stuff) they cut him off and ignore him or the concerns. We’ve all have had enough of this finger pointing. I’m from Centene and even I know our people don't do sh-t all day and now all of these “secret” layoffs are happening and I sure hope we survives this because we don’t deserve any of this. None of us do.

So…posting to take issue with the “lack of work ethic” comment about legacy Wellcare.

That’s a shared sentiment toward Centene employees. It may vary by department and role but I really have to question how much the Centene proper folks work. They’re always offline or unavailable. Slow to respond to emails. Slow to escalate. Slow to take ownership. Slow to improvise and take accountability. Slow to improve…period.

And how do they handle budgets and estimating? It’s a wild goose chase when getting estimates or work done within IT.

I’m sure we can cast stones across legacy organizations all day but I think the laziness and lack of follow through is with legacy Centene employees.

I think it is safe to say that both centene and wellcare people are still unhappy about the merger. Most people were perfectly happy before it happened and wish it never occurred.

Centene and wellcare have not been a "hey you got chocolate in my peanut butter ... no you got peanut butter on my chocolate" happy delicious combination.

It has been more akin to pineapple on pizza combination and some people have real strong feelings about it.

I must be hungry all my thoughts keep turning to food!

I’m a legacy Centene employee working on the WellCare side and it’s a different world. Lack of work ethic by WellCare and a company motto of don’t pay let providers appeal and outsource/offshore everything

Lol. The downvotes in the post about complaints coming from legacy Wellcare people sort of prove a point.

Legacy folks aren’t happy with the current company leadership and how decreased everything is. They lash out at the current CEO and her reports for all of the problems.

Why? Because they wanted Centene to be like legacy Wellcare. They wanted Ken Burdick as the next CEO. That’s how they built the careers…so they want it to be the same.

How many have been let go so far? There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to who was chosen to be laid off.

Ah, I thought the complaining was a mixed bag, a lot of Centene people are not at all happy with how their departments were infiltrated by the Wellcare way!

How can you tell they're legacy Wellcare by their comments?!

Not sure yet. But no, I wouldn’t say that.

What I can tell you based on some of the comments in this forum is that most of those complaining are from legacy Wellcare. You can tell by their comments and what they complain about.
