Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Greedy, amoral or mismanaged?

Within the last 6-7 years this company has received massive tax breaks (worth millions) from the US government with the misguided idea that it would be reinvested into creating jobs. Based on what we are reading here they pretty much pocketed that, laid off thousands of workers, and sent the jobs to low wage countries around the world. Additionally, in that same timeframe they’ve sold large pieces of real estate and significantly reduced the amount of leased real estate. This really makes me question how they could be hurting this badly for money. Is it just greed? Or have we been this badly mismanaged???

Greedy, is obviously a yes. One only needs to look up bonuses and salaries of the CEO and other officers when minions are getting literally Pennie’s on the dollar or nothing for raises. But a bigger factor is the mismanagement and wasteful spending on failed programs. I cannot tell you the reaction of my office when CI was rolled out. We all thought it was a joke including the guy running our office. It became a giant waste of time very quickly. From updating pointless huddle boards to participating in meaningless RCPS meetings to changing how staff meetings were run, I can’t emphasize how far CI set all of us back. The fact that management green lit such a useless philosophy is still unfathomable. Resources were pulled from all over the company to train everyone on this new management strategy. And then—it all just slowly faded away like it never happened. I am not sure what happened to all of those expensive white boards. TG was next which again, nobody has been able to articulate what it is, or why we have it. It is supposed to make us a low premium company. The commercials talks about not having “cut rate” insurance though. One of the senior leaders asked us in a town hall what TG meant and not one good answer was given. The point it, these are collossal failures on a very large scale, all pointing to the top. I left the company last year and can assure you that this stuff isn’t happening elsewhere. Not at my new carrier and not at the many carriers I know through friends. To top it off, the company has zero clue with regard to talent management and has thrown woefully underqualified people into leadership roles. Recipe for disaster. Stock still hasn’t recovered and questionable if it ever will.

Remember in a town hall a few years ago when Tommy was talking about investing all these millions in employee development.

Still waiting.....

@eqa+1ouXtvlB, you are right on point and they tout that “shared vision” BS on integrity…
They will fire you for taking a cookie from a vendor at Christmas but they pull scam after scam, even taking advantage of their most loyal and best risk customers so they can retain the bad risk trash at a lower rate so they can hide the retention losses.
They can take their hypocritical shared value BS and above it…

Why not all three?

I remember when the tax bill was passed and Allstate got that huge windfall. TW was going to invest in training employees so that they would be competitive in the modern workforce or some such nonsense (major foreshadowing, no?)

So at one point the budget for training was actually published. A little math suggested it was $500 per employee. Total, not additional.

Such largesse!

This company is just one grimy bank account for TW and his pathetic talentless walking trash heap minions. They have also engaged in unfair business practices including purposely lowballing customers on claims settlements, misrepresenting products, misappropriation of funds, money laundering, and many other civil crimes. The top 3-4 levels of this company is compliant in all this and the OP's happenings. There are a lot of Allstate execs and directors that belong behind bars. There is nothing honest, moral, truthful, or trustworthy about this company. And their exploitation of overseas borderline slave labor? How dare they try to preach to us about equality and diversity. These trash bags are some of the most bigoted and discriminatory beings in existence. I refuse to use the term humans when referencing them.
