Confirmation of the completed transformation of his organization just arrived. It's over, until next time.

You must be high if you assume the people who are left are better for the business. Looking in Sandesh Shetty's org, they got rid of at least one director who was highly respected, cared about & supported her employees, and was extremely knowledgeable. The directors they kept are total a@s kissers who are only out for themselves. They are most certainly not better for the company.
I have been let go after 20+ years with the company. My Senior Manager role in Ulf's organization was eliminated as a result of this restructuring. My team had excellent results and delivered on all the metrics, far better than other similar teams. I was hoping that I could be retained (or at least demoted to the Manager level) as I was adding value to the organization. I know others who moved into other lateral roles.
I know now that despite being good, I was not good enough to be retained and the people in my job title who stayed are indeed very good. Layoffs are about retaining the best talent for the company needs and at this time and the size of this cut I was not part of this pool.
I'm glad the bloodshed is over. Congrats to those who made it.
For those who didn't, I'm only a week ahead of you. The grief of losing a job (especially if you loved it like me) gets a tiny bit more bearable. Not much bearable but a bit. I wish us all luck in finding better opportunities.
Which senior people are out?
Till we all meet again, it's been an honor surviving the 2023 purge
And as one who got the notice yesterday, I'll enjoy my 8 weeks of sitting at home doing nothing and getting paid to strategize my next job. Much like those who stayed at home during Covid and got accused of doing nothing. But wait, we did quite a lot from home while we "sat at home doing nothing". We pulled the Legacy Sprint and TMO networks into one. Something that was led by T-Mobile and took 2 years. Much different than the Sprint/Nextel integration that took like 10 years...or did they ever truly finish it?
“ as we enter the next era of the un-carrier “
Yea that’s true. This is a new T-Mobile that I don’t recognize. Everything has changed. The people I worked for close to a decade have vanished. A lot of good collaboration and time spent on troubleshooting network problems.
I’ve always loved worked in the Technology organization. It made me feel important working from the inside to keep our network up to date with the latest cutting edge innovations. But now the pride is gone. The morale is at an all time low. And a lot of people that worked hard to get where we are, were just discarded like old GSM hardware.
I will continue to do good work because I genuinely like facing a challenge. And at least we still are shareholders so it’s in our best interest to keep succeeding. But I won’t ever drink the magenta kool aid. For close to a decade, I bought into the hype. The culture really is gone. Keeping my options open, but at the same time it’s sad knowing things won’t ever be the same.
Pour out a lil li---r for our fallen homies
