Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

H1B vs Qualified Citizen

Sorry I need to preface this with - I am not xenophobic. This post is meant for productive discussion, not devolvement into bigotry.

As a condition of employment for H1B visa holders, tmo needs to prove in each case that a suitable US citizen is not available for the role. However, how is it fair that certain H1 employees be kept, when clearly qualified citizens are being let go? Class action?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, there are no laws protecting American citizens from layoffs when a company also employs people on H1B visas in the same department. Even worse, once someone with an employment based visa gets into a leadership role, they tend to hire/keep/promote employees that share the same ethnic background. A colleague of mine who is now a green card holder calls it the India mafia mentality, and he is from India. It's like the white male good old boy system, but different.

Bet you didn't know that H1B visa employees make more then you, thanks to our Ex-Presidents policies.

Pretty soon, they won't even need H1B visa employees or to outsource your job. Artificial Intelligence will do your job better then you, work 24 hours a day, work 7 days a week, and do it faster and accurately. This is just the beginning of the extinction of human beings. If you don't have a job, you can't feed yourself or your family. You won't have a place to live. You won't have kids cause they cost to much. Every generation will have fewer and fewer kid cause you can't afford to feed them or put a roof over their heads. And this way, slowly the human population will eventually become extinct since there won't be enough jobs for everyone. Just look at the world right now. There aren't even jobs in foreign countries right now and therefore you see poverty. And the climate change won't help much as the amount of food produce each year decreases due to droughts, flooding, hurricanes, typhoons, heat wave, much colder winters, etc. So what was that you were saying about H1B visa workers?

All the high performers in our region are H1Bs.

green card holders and H1B holders with less skill are preferred.

H1Bs are basically indentured servants until they get a green card. Managers/Directors can work their a&&e& off under threat of removing H1B and deportation. They also make less money. Goes to show our Managers and Directors could give a sh!t less about quality.

lol, employees can’t pay the visa costs. It’s illegal.

Don’t open your mouth if you don’t know sh-t.

I wouldn't be surprised if H1Bs were told their visa costs would be on them moving forward, as a way to force them out voluteerly.

As stated earlier, in my (now previous) team, green card holders and H1B holders with less skill are preferred. All depends where your directors allegiance are. As i found out today, not with me.

Also, stop staying “class action” for every small thing. The company has a very strong legal team. Either take the severance or keep fighting to find out you get nothing.

Wrong. Only applies to new jobs or postings. Does not mean didly squat in this case

It’s not that straight forward.

The company has very specific job requirements for such positions and can easily disqualify an applicant if he is missing that specific skill.
